An workplace emergency procedure should contains the following parts:

(1) Emergency contact list which contains name, telephone number and so on.
This is not specific, it does not answer the question, and so on means I don’t know.

(2) Search and rescue team which is made up of the trained workers.
(3) Emergency escape route which tells the workers the best way to go away from the workplace.

(4) Equipment list which contains the location and number and responsible person of the

emergency tools and equipment.

(5) The specific duty of some specific workers should be contained. I would have written role
and responsibilities of the emergency response team

(6) The location of muster point should be clearly noted.


(7) The judgement and instruction of how to deal with the emergency situation should be

contained I don’t like the judgement, it is non specific, I do like your answer of how to deal
with the emergency situation.

There are many reasons why written instructions in a handbook may be ineffective.
(1) Some workers don’t like to read so they just know there are instructions but they don’t the content of

them.

(2) Some workers have never gone to school so they cannot read.

(3) A written instruction is difficult to understand to some workers. Why?

(4) A written instruction is not as specific as a picture so they are difficult to remember.

(5) Some workers don’t like to take the handbook with them so they don’t have chance to read them.
(6) The handbook is difficult to read to some workers whose eyes are not good enough as the font size.
