The following text is for question 24
I strongly believe that mobile phones are necessary. My reasons for this belief are that these phones
are convenient for business people who travel a lot, and they are handy for emergencies.
To begin with, mobile phones are necessary in the case of emergencies. For instance, if you fall
down a set of stairs in a building and are badly injured and can’t reach a pay phone, it is handy to
have one to use. Or, if your car breaks down in the middle of the night in a strange neighborhood,
it would be dangerous to leave it in search of a public phone booth.
My other main reason is that mobile phones are convenient for business people. For example, if
you are out of the state or even overseas and you have to contact a client to do some important
work, it is useful to have one to use. By using a mobile phone, important information can be
received. People can’t stay in an office all day waiting for their phone to ring. Some people have
to go and do jobs or they will go out of business. You can even send faxes or messages and use
the internet with your mobile.
In conclusion, I believe that mobile phones have now become a necessary part of everyday life.
Instant communication will ensure that information can be passed on with a simple press of a
button. Whether this is to do with business or personal information or emergencies, it goes to show
that they are necessary in the new millennium.

9. Why are mobile phones very convenient for business people?

A. They can contact clients
B. They can do some important works
C. They can receive some important information
D. They can send some data and surf internet
E. They can run business by staying in and out office

An Alliance Could Answer The Growing Threat from Google and Facebook By Evelyn M.RuIsi
and Nick Bilton
Apple, which has stumbled in its efforts to get into social media, has talked with Twitter in recent
months about making a strategic investment in it, according to people briefed on the matter.
Although apple has been hugely successful in selling phones and tablets, it has little traction in
social networking, which has become a major engine of activity on the Web and on mobile devices.
Social media are increasingly influencing the ways people spend their time and money —
important consideration for Apple, which also sells application, games, music and movies.
Apple has considered an investment in the hundreds of millions of dollars, one that could value
Twitter at more than $10 billion, up from an $8.4 billion valuation last year, these people said.
They declined to be identified because the discussions were private.
There is no guarantee that the two companies, which are not in negotiations at the moment, will
come to an agreement. But the earlier talks are a sign that they may form a stronger partnership
amid intensifying competition from companies like Google and Facebook.
Apple has not made many friends in social media. Its relationship with Facebook, for example, has
been strained since a deal to build Facebook featured into Ping, Apple’s music-centric social
network, fell apart. Facebook is also aligned with Microsoft, which owns a small stake in it. And
Google, an Apple rival in the phone market, has been pushing its own social network, Google Plus.

“partnership” means…
A. Collusion
B. Competition

D. Negotiation
E. Collaboration

What is photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is a food-making process that occurs in green plants. It is
the chief function of leaves. The word photosynthesis means putting together with light. Green
plants use energy from light to combine carbon dioxide and water to make sugar and other
chemical compounds. How is the light used in photosynthesis?
The light used in photosynthesis is absorbed by a green pigment called chlorophyll. Each food-
making cell in a plant leaf contains chlorophyll in small bodies called chloroplasts. In chloroplast,
light energy causes water drawn from the soil to split into hydrogen and oxygen.
What are the steps of photosynthesis process? Let me tell you the process of photosynthesis, in a
series of complicated steps, the hydrogen combines with carbon dioxide from the air, forming a
simple sugar. Oxygen from the water molecules is given off in the process. From sugar together
with nitrogen, sulphur, and phosporus from the soil-green plants can make starch, fat, protein,
vitamins, and other complex compounds essential for life. Photosynthesis provides the chemical

These days, increasing number of households use gas hot water systems, which mostly burn LPG
(liquefied petroleum gas). It is a good solution if you live in an area with limited sunlight for a
solar hot water system.
There are two main types of hot water systems. The first is storage water heater, which heat
and store water in an insulated tank for use when it is needed. The second is instantaneous systems
(or continuous flow systems), which only heat water when it’s needed and don’t use a storage tank.
The second type is the most popular in the country, as it is more affordable. In instantaneous
systems, the water is heated by a gas burner as it flows through a coiled pipe called a heat
exchanger. The gas burner starts when a hot water tap is turned on. It only heats the amount of
water that is required instead of continuously heating a full tank.

BEAR AND RABBIT
Once upon a time there lived as neighbours, a bear and a rabbit. The rabbit was a good short,
and the bear, being very clumsy, could not use the arrow to good advantage. The bear would
call over the rabbit and asked the rabbit to take his bow and arrows and came with the bear to
the other side of the hill. The rabbit, fearing to arouse the bear's anger by refusing, consented
and went with the bear and shot enough buffalo to satisfy the hungry family. Indeed, he shot
and killed so many that there was lots of meat left after the bear and his family had loaded
themselves, and packed all they could carry home. The bear was very gluttonous and did not
want the rabbit to get any of the meat, so the poor rabbit could not even taste the blood from
the butchering, as the bear would throw earth on the blood and dry it up. Poor rabbit would
have to go home hungry after his hard day's work.
The bear was the father of five children. The youngest child was very kind to the rabbit. The
mother bear, knowing that her youngest child was very hearty eater, always gave him an extra
large piece of meat, but the youngest child didn't eat. He would take it outside with him and
pretend to play ball with it, kicking it toward the rabbit's house, and when he got close to the
door he would give the meat with such a great kick, that it would fly into the rabbit's house and
in this way the poor rabbit would get his meal unknown to the papa bear.

There is no best way to deal with pests in agriculture. Pesticides which are commonly used may
cause many problems. I think combining different management operations is the most effective
way to control pests.
Firstly, the chemicals in the pesticides may build up as residues in the environment and in the soil
which absorbs the chemicals. This reduces the quality of farm product.
Secondly, pests can gradually become resistant to pesticides. This means that newer and stronger
ones have to be developed.
Lastly, some pesticides affect non target plants and animals such as fish and bees. This affects the
ecology and environment as well.
So, understanding of ecology of an area helps a lot in pest control. Pesticides should be chosen and
applied carefully so that they don’t affect the ecological balance and environment.
Therefore, integrated pest management is a safe and more effective option to fight pest in
agriculture and livestock.

Big news today as the US board of Finance has announced it will end its quantitative easing policy
at the end of September this year. This means they will have formally ended their attempt to save
the US economy by improving its balance sheet. The UBF’s rate decision in late October allowed
interest rates to remain unchanged.
On a different note, the Secretary of Commerce has reported that there are minor signs of a
slowdown in the business boom. This is to be expected but it’s too soon for them to have any
noticeable effect on the overall inflationary picture. Millions of Americans are feeling the financial
pressure of runaway inflation with prices rising at their fastest rate in over fifty years.
Petrol prices are rising sharply, and the cost of goods and services is growing seemingly out of
control, putting an enormous burden on lower-income families. There are currently three remedies
proposed by industry leaders and law-makers. The first is gas rebate cards, the second is gas tax
holiday, and the last is invoking the defense production act. The last point will allow the refineries
to get back up to speed after the drop in demand caused by the pandemic.
The signs for the future worrying; the DOW is down eighteen percent, inflation is running at almost
nine percent, and the FED raised interest rates up three-quarters of a point. Whilst the president is
saying that the country is strong with a great economy, other experts are predicting a recession.
Any previous situation comparable to our current predicament has quickly slid into recession.
Couple that with a drop in consumer confidence, and you can see we are already approaching a
tipping point. Whilst you cannot predict a recession with one hundred percent accuracy, it seems
that we are in for some tough times, and so fiscal caution is the order of the day until we get more
confidence back into the financial markets.
