Expectations and Class Rules:

What to expect from Mrs. Strella:

1. Communication: I will have a newsletter and weekly module with directions in canvas weekly.
The Unit 3 Calendar embedded in Weebly will outline the objectives to complete day by day.
Directions, expectations, resources and support will be provided via the Weebly website.
If there are questions outside of class time please feel free to email, message me on Canvas, or
message on Remind, if you message after 5pm or on the weekend the response may not be until the next school day.

2. Teaching: I will provide numerous resources for you to use as you explore our content. I understand sometimes talking
to me is the only way to grasp this material so I will be available for questions and additional support in class and during tutoring.

3. Respect: I will always behave with respect. When discussing cultures, religions, people, or interacting with students, parents, and
other teachers. We are a learning community. All of us. I expect to learn from you and hope you learn from our class.

4. Preparation: I will always do my best to provide you with varied and relevant materials to support and encourage your exploration of
history. I will be prepared and will have resources, support, and time to help assist and strengthen your understanding of World
History.

My expectations for you:

1. Classwork: All students are required to submit their authentic work on time.
In the event you are absent, check Canvas for your notes and assignments; this is your responsibility.
Students should only turn in work that they have completed authentically on their own. To do otherwise is to violate the code of
conduct and the expectation for academic integrity.

Students who encounter an emergency that prevents them from submitting their work on time, if possible, need to notify me through
email at Cstrella@paulding.k12.ga.us. Otherwise the excused absence note will allow for a late turn-in either on the day of return or
with an appropriate extension due to circumstances.
Due dates are posted well in advance.

2. Behavior: Students are expected to behave themselves in a way that shows courtesy and respect to me, the classroom, and their fellow
students. They are expected to be attentive and respectful. Language or behavior that demeans or harasses other students will not be
tolerated. Be on time and ready to learn, tardiness will be recorded and school policy on attendance will be enforced.

3. Phones & earbuds. There are times phones and earbuds may be used and times when they may not. During notes, discussions,
activities, and assessments phone use may be inappropriate. If a student is using a device at an inappropriate time, they will be asked
to put it away so they and their classmates may be actively engaged in our learning.

4. Out of the classroom. 1st Period: Please get breakfast before coming to class.
3rd Period: Students need to be returned from lunch within 5 minutes of dismissal from the
cafeteria or the student will be marked tardy.
ALL class periods: School policy dictates that bathroom passes are not issued for the first 10 and
last 10 minutes of class please plan accordingly.
ALL class periods: We dismiss on the first bell; please refrain from lining up at the door before
dismissal.

5. The Golden Rule – Treat others as you want to be treated.

The golden rule has roots in a wide range of world cultures and is well suited to be a standard to which different cultures
appeal in resolving conflicts. Our world in our classroom is no different. To apply the golden rule adequately, we need
knowledge and imagination. We need to know what effect our actions have on the lives of others. And we need to be
able to imagine ourselves, vividly and accurately, in the other person's place on the receiving end of the action.
