Connector Management
Document Introduction
Overview
In this lab you will install VDP connectors to your assigned physical
servers, Windows and Linux.

Hardware and Software required to complete this exercise

Laptop/Desktop Computer connected to the Actifio Education Virtual


Lab environment.

Documentation

Preparation
Consult your lab worksheet and determine the names and addresses
that you will be using for this lab.

Note:

If you are not sure which addresses to use, please contact your
instructor.

education virtual lab environment:

Prod-01 appliance Username: admin


Prod-01 appliance Password: password
Prod-01 Appliance IP Address: 10.177.177.14
IVGM Login Credentials

IVGM Username: admin


IVGM Password: password
IVGM IP Address: 10.177.177.13
Server Credentials

Linux Server Name/IP Address: linux-phy.afedu.local / 10.177.177.20


Windows Server Name/IP Address: win-phy.afedu.local / 10.177.177.17

Document Purpose
Overview
The purpose of the document is to provide the learners with the exact
steps that they will need to perform while installing the Windows
and/or Linux connector.

Presentation Technique
This document contains screen captures of all the screens that the
students will be viewing during the Lab session and the corresponding
steps listed underneath the screen describing the action to be
performed. Additionally, there will be highlighted areas to bring focus to
the activity areas of the screen.

Steps to be performed
Part One: Installing the Windows Connector

Instructions
1. From your Virtual Lab desktop, open up your Remote Desktop
Connector from the main display screen, and enter in the IP
Address of your physical Windows device.

2. When the screen opens, you will be asked to enter your login
credentials. It is necessary to change to a different account in
order to login. Select the More choices field near the bottom of the
screen, followed by Use a different account.

3. Enter the username administrator, and the password Pass1234!


Click OK.

4. When the certificate exemption screen opens,
select Yes to proceed to the site.

5. You will now be logged in to the Windows Server. From the Main
Screen, open up a browser to your Prod01 appliance.

6. From the Resource Center, click the Windows Connector icon to
download the exe file.

7. Save the file.

8. Launch the exe file that you just downloaded.

9. Follow the Setup Wizard instructions.

10. You must change the Select Components screen by clicking on
the dropdown menu and choosing Actifio Connector with Change
Block Tracking.

11. After you move to the last wizard screen, verify the contents of the
Summary Screen. click Install.

12. After you click Finish, verify that the Actifio Connector is installed
and running correctly. To do this, run the services.msc program.
You should see that the Actifio Activity Monitoring Service and
Actifio UDS Host Agent show a status of Started.

13. If you are planning to use ISCSI, scroll down the list and check that
the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator Service has also started.
If not, as shown below, you will have to manually start the service.
If the entry does not exist, you will have to setup the iSCSI initiator.

Part Two: Installing the Linux Connector

Instructions
1. From your Virtual Lab desktop, open up a PuTTY session from the
main display screen.
Enter in the IP address of your physical Linux device.

2. You may see a message that the authenticity of the host can’t be
established. Answer yes to continue connecting.

3. Enter the login and password for the root account. Use root and
Pass1234!

4. Enter the command:


rpm –ivh http://<VDP_Appliance_IP_Address>/connector-Linux-
latestversion.rpm
where <VDP_Appliance_IP_Address> is the IP address of your VDP
Appliance.
The system will install both components of the connector.

5. Enter the command:


systemctl status udsagent.service
This command will indicate that the udsagent daemon is active
(running).

If you are using the ISCSI Service, then perform the following steps:

6. Enter the command:


systemctl status iscsid.service
This command will indicate whether the iscsi service is running.

7. If the service indicates that it is inactive (dead), as shown above,


go to step 8.
If the service is shown as active (running), go to step 10.

8. To start the iSCSI service, enter the following command


systemctl restart iscsid.service
This will restart the service.

9. Re-enter the command:


systemctl status iscsid.service
This command will show that the system is now active (running),
which indicates that the service has started.

10. As a last step, it is recommended that you take note of the iSCSI
initiator so that it can be pasted into the host iSCSI port. You would
copy the information beginning with iqn and continuing to the
end.

In this example, the initiator is: iqn.1994-05.com.redhat:76035211492
