1. Choose one of the biggest retailers in the Philippines. Go to the company’s
website and find out how the company started and how it has changed over time.

- Puregold Price Club Inc. It was started for incorporate in 1998 the first
opening hypermarket store in Manduluyong in December. The store it has
change over time because of the excellent service and quality it provided in a
very affordable prices and it has grown into a retail chain with more than 50
stores nationwide.

2. From your perspective, what are the benefits and limitations of purchasing a pair
of jeans directly from a manufacturer rather than a retailer? (10 points)

- The benefits of a buying direct selling that came from a manufacturers or


suppliers like designs, lower prices, better deals to sell the product. Even if all
manufacturers were to offer their products directly to consumers, it can be readily
noted that the consumer would now have to spend an extraordinary amount of time
each day ordering directly from each manufacturer. The various functions
performed by retailers, such as bulk-breaking, holding inventories, and providing
information, service and assortments can be brought to bear on overcoming the
limitations discussed above for the consumer. Bulk-breaking enables consumers to
buy only the specific amount they would need. y providing an assortment of
products and brands in one location – in some cases of scrambled merchandising,
a very wide assortment of products and brands – retailers help consumers engage
in one-stop shopping, thereby saving them the time and effort for other productive
and leisure activities.

3. What is your favorite retailer? Why do you like this retailer? What would a
competitive retailer have to do to get your patronage? (10 points)
- My favorite retailer is Amazon because in this aspect of their retail strategy
such as their product variety and assortments, pricing strategy, and even the
merchandise or services so that the consumer needs to be sought to be
satisfied. they should implement strategies of attracting their consumers of
which will likely gain their support and make their consumers many than of
their competitors.

4. Does 7-Eleven contribute to or detract from the communities in which it operates


its stores? (10 points)

- It contributes by creating jobs, sell for less, donate money. it detracts because
it knocks out mom and pop shops and smaller stores like it.
