Growth Hormone and Mecasermin

The effect of IGF-1 on plasma glucose levels may be accounted for by increased peripheral glucose use
and by inhibition of hepatic gluconeogenesis. These data indicate that IGF-1 can mimic insulin's effects on
glucose metabolism by acting through its own receptor.
Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) and Its Analogs
Thyroid & Antithyroid Drugs
Anions such as thiocyanate (SCN–) and perchlorate (ClO4 –)
block the uptake of iodide by the thyroid gland through
competitive inhibition of the iodide transporter.
Corticosteroids & Antagonists
Acute adrenal crisis is a life-threatening state caused by insufficient levels of cortisol, which is a
hormone produced and released by the adrenal gland.
Gonadal Hormones
Sudden decrease in estrogen and progesterone = Menstruation
Why is estrogen used in contraceptives?
The estrogen component of the combination birth control pill serves 3
important functions: it exerts negative feedback action on the secretion of
gonadotropins.

INSULIN SECRETAGOUGES (Type 1)

Voltage gated Calcium channels open Calcium rushes in causes insulin vesicles to
fuse with the membrane and enhance release of insulin in the blood.
Their primary mechanism of action is to close ATP-sensitive K-channels in the beta-
cell plasma membrane, and so initiate a chain of events which results in insulin
release.
GLP-1 is released in response to high glucose levels and they stimulate insulin
release
