Eighty people have been charged with various cybercrimes related to the pandemic

since March last year, including 52 suspects spreading fake news about the
coronavirus disease.

Data released yesterday by the Philippine National Police (PNP) showed that 121
criminal complaints have been filed from March 9, 2020 to Aug. 9, 2021.

Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, PNP chief, said these range from illegal online sale of
medical supplies to online scams and fake news as documented by Criminal
Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG).
