1. Polymer make-up and dosing

Cartaretin F29 liq is very soluble polymer solution and in water and can be dosed directly in wet end or
recovering fibre system. An in-line dilution is recommended to improve homogenization. Usage of static
mixer provides better dilution.

Cases when preparation is required, Cartaretin F29 liq can be also diluted its use in the application. A
1.0 to 5.0% solution is prepared using clean water and suitable equipment for preparing solution or
emulsions polymers.

This solution should then be stored in a dosing tank for at least 15 minutes to ensure polymer is fully
dissolved.

Whilst preparing to solution, it is recommended pouring the product slowly over agitated water. A little
spurt of product should contact water on the vortex formed by agitation. Non-return valves are
necessary to avoid any Incoming water in the dosing line of the raw product. Concentrations higher than
5% are not recommended due to difficulty to homogenize of high viscosity solution.

Solution stability depends on diverse factors; quality of the dilution water, such as, hardness,
conductivity and pH. Temperature and concentration plays important role and it is advised to consume
dissolution in the next few hours after its preparation.

2. Technical Information
Cartaretin F29 liq improves the drainage and retention of the paper machine, reduces steam
consumption. It allows increase speed of paper machine. Cartaretin F29 liq, can also be used for krofta
and flotation systems.

2.1 Retention and Drainage

To reach best results Cartaretin F29 liq should be diluted In-line or pre-prepared to a concentration of
1.0 to 5.0 %. Due to lower molecular weight, can be applied in between pressure screens and headbox
not affecting paper formation.

Cartaretin F29 liq dosage can vary according to paper segmentation. For high gramage liner and
corrugated paper, dosage varies of 4 to 6 kg/ton of dry stock. In tissue varies of 0.5 to 1.0 kg/ton and for
molded paper dosage can be 3.0 to 5.0 kg/ton. Proper dosage amount should be defined according to
paper machine requirements.

2.2 Fibre Recovery

Diluted Cartaretin F29 liq is usually added before the inlet to a saveall or clarification unit where good
mixing will occur. As a guide, a dosage in the range 1 to 8 mg/l of Cartaretin F29 liq.

3. Handling, storage and stability

It is Important that care is taken to prevent water (e.g. condensation or splashes) from getting into
opened containers of Cartaretin F29 liq. Spillages should first be removed with an absorbent (e.g.
sawdust) and then washed away with copius amounts of water. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothes.

Although product does not exhaust dangerous vapours under normal storage conditions, we
recommend using the product in well ventilated areas. Keep the product in Its original drum or container
closed to avoid any external contamination.

The shelf life of the product Is of 6 months after its delivery. Avoid temperatures out of the range 0°C to
40°C.
