A book review includes a short summary of the book, background information about the

author and topic, and an evaluation of the content. When writing a short summary of a book,
assume that your audience has not read it and address the book’s main topics and ideas and
explain why they matter.

Since a book review is written in the present tense, it uses the format of an article. A good
book review should analyse the following:

A. The characters
B. The themes, their mood, and speed of the story ( slow or fast paced story)
C. The plot
D. The author’s opinion
E. The writer’s opinion on the book being reviewed

The title of the composition should be the title of the book.

The introduction should introduce the main characters and their personality, the setting of the
story, and the author of the book, not forgetting the year it was written. The writer should
endeavour to pick the interesting facts about the characters involved in the story. The
introduction should be 3 to 5 sentences.

Each paragraph should be between 5 to 10 sentences.

The main body should be divided into paragraphs where each paragraph discusses in depth a
particular theme. As themes are developed, the review should also focus on the main
characters.

When covering the background of the book, research the topic, even if the book is a work of
fiction. You will also want to include some information about the author, which can help
your reader understand the content, especially if it’s a work of nonfiction. For example, what
are the author’s credentials of his or her influences or beliefs?

Finally, conclude the review with your evaluation of the book. This isn’t just your opinion; it
is your assessment of the book’s strengths and weaknesses, and how well it met its
objectives. However, book reviews can include personal opinions.
This tale is an adventure of a girl who lived a miserable lifestyle. This story tale, which was
published by Simon and Schuster in 2010, talks about a teenage girl who desperately tries to
fit in within her new school. Later on, she faces disappointments, stress, and sorrow that cool,
cute, and popular kids at her new school are trying to cause.

School Life
Nikki Maxwell begins her life in school and makes real new friends, Zoey and Chloe, who
are always there for her. Her school life is composed of the mean girl, Mackenzie, who is
always trying to cause trouble for her; Zoey and Chloe, her crazy and best friends; Brandon,
her super cute crush; and Jessica, Mackenzie’s best friend. Sadly, Nikki undergoes so much
pain, disappointment, and sorrow at the school Halloween dance. After three to four days,
Nikki promises to spend time with Brandon. She also promises to spend time with her
friends. Finally, she makes a promise to go to her little sister’s party on the same day. She
tries to fit in without anyone from her school, knowing that she has to do all this on the same
day. Can Nikki manage to do all this at once?

Family Life
Nikki Maxwell moves into her new home with her family members who are always there for
her. Her family life is composed of her mom and dad, who always act as though they are not
parents at all. In her family, we also find her young sister, Brianna, who always causes
trouble for her elder sister. Nikki helps her to get a Job in town without knowing that
Mackenzie’s dad owns the business. On the bright side, she wins a scholarship from her new
school.

Author’s View
Nikki is finally adjusting to life at her new school. She makes her new friends, but without a
hesitation, she falls in love with Brandon, who is also Mackenzie’s crush. Nikki overhears the
mean girl, Mackenzie, bragging about her going out for a Halloween dance with Brandon.
However, she discovers that Mackenzie is lying about her going out with Brandon. Can Nikki
overcome all this pain? To know more, find out in “Dork Diaries Pop Star.”

Do teenagers deserve this entire drama because of their crush? I realise how much drama they
go through. The good part is that life goes on and on. Mean girl, Mackenzie, just needs to
know the fact that Brandon does not belong to her anymore. This book will bring more
happiness, love, and joy to all teenage girls who feel the same way as Nikki.

I personally believe that a good book is one that can change one’s emotions, point of view,
and way of thinking. Oliver Twist, which is a book written by Nigel Bryant and published by
Heineman in 1983, is a book that shows the sad story of a young orphan boy, Oliver, who
later on finds happiness. The young orphan boy finds good friends and a new family to call
his own. Happiness, joy, and good friends are what follow this young boy after a long
journey of sadness.

Life at the Orphanage

Oliver is raised in a catholic orphanage along with other young orphans. Oliver and the other
orphans are mistreated and used as workers in the orphanage. They are given less food and
more work to do. At the orphanage, none of the orphans is given good health care. Most of
them are left to get sick. The orphans are not adopted but sold to parents for the benefits of
the catholic workers. Hard and sad times are what the orphans at the orphanage face.

Family Life
Oliver runs away from the orphanage to the other side of the country where he later-on meets
new friends who love him. Some of his friends include Jay-jay, who is the fattest among his
friends and Luwi, who is the kindest. With his new group of friends, Oliver sees a good
chance of happiness. Later on, he is introduced to a new family who love him like their own.
They show him kindness, love, and support.

Author’s View
This book tells the story of a young orphan boy whose life is not so good from the start but is
later on better in his new family. It also talks about good friendship, love, and hope for
orphans. There is hope for one even if it seems there isn’t any. Oliver, the main character in
this story, has been used as a good example for any orphan out there.

With all the pain and sadness that Oliver faces, he runs away to find a better place. This
brings happiness to the young boy’s life. This is a slow moving story, and I would
recommend readers of any age, most of all, the orphans out there, to learn from this
wonderful book. To all those who think that there is no hope, you should keep in mind that
there is a silver lining somewhere.
