Follow the general guidelines for locating the GPS/GNSS antenna to provide safe and clear satellite visibility. Se
section Satellite visibility below for more details.
Satellite visibility
Note that a 180º clear sky view is the optimum case from the signal quality and accuracy point of view. If the cle
sky view is smaller than 180º (for example urban canyons), the GPS/GNSS receiver operation might suffer from
poor satellite visibility, depending on the sky view angle and location on the globe (especially latitude). The
GPS/GNSS receiver might be operational, especially after the survey, even with smaller than a 180º sky view,
however, this cannot be guaranteed. Furthermore, the survey time might be longer and the accuracy of the PPS
signal poorer than with a full 180º sky visibility.

Procedure

1 Install the GPS Mounting Kit (FYMA).

1. To attach the kit to a wall, use the screws.

2. To attach the kit to a pole, use the bands and fasten them with screws.

The following table presents the GPS/GNSS pole mounting band cutting rule.

Table: GPS/GNSS pole mounting band cutting rule

Pole diameter Cutting length

50 mm (1.9 in) 107 mm (4.2 in)

80 mm (3.1 in) 201 mm (7.9 in)

110 mm (4.3 in) 296 mm (11.6 in)

150 mm (5.9 in) 421 mm (16.5 in)

200 mm (7.8 in) 578 mm (22.7 in)

250 mm (9.8 in) 804 mm (31.6 in)

300 mm (11.8 in) 893 mm (35.1 in)

Note that the 25 mm (0.9 in) bending lengths for both ends are included in the cutting lengths.

The metal band folds must be inwards folded and so that folds are compressed against the pole while tightening the band.

Tip: To ease the tightening of the bands, locate the worm screw on the other side of the pole than the fastener.

2 Attach the GPS/GNSS receiver to the mounting kit.

3 Secure the GPS/GNSS receiver using the mounting kit locking nut.

4 Connect the GPS/GNSS receiver cable to the GPS/GNSS receiver.

5 Route the cable through the holes in the mounting kit.

6 Secure the cable with the cable ties.

7 Connect the other end of the GPS/GNSS cable to the Sync In port on the System Module front panel.
