Assignment - 1: Win-Win Scenario from my life Subject: Total Quality

Management

Gujrat Institute of Management Sciences

PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi

Back in 2019 when I had completed my college, I decided that based on my performance in
complex science subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Math, I would not go for a degree in
computer science or engineering related fields.

After considerable introspection, I felt that I had passion for business related studies and hence,
wanted to pursue a career in that. However, my parents contended my decision saying that
there’s no scope of such fields and rather I should give the ECAT exam and do engineering.
They said that even if you couldn’t get admission in government engineering college, we would
pay for a private engineering college, which by the way from our standards was certainly
expensive.

After much back and forth, I offered them a deal: I will get admission in the degree of my
choice, In the first six months through my performance in the given degree, I will convince my
parents to have me continue the degree. Otherwise, I will do as they say. My impeccable
performance in the first semester with a 3.98 GPA made sure that never throughout my degree I
will be questioned on this choice of mine.

My parents were overjoyed by my performance, the fact that I was able to save so much of their
money and that they ultimately they hadn’t imposed their will on me. So not only was I able to
choose a degree of my choice but also save a lot of money of parents while keeping them
satisfied by my decision, certainly a win -win situation.
