WHAT IS A GROUP?

A group is a collection of people who come


together with a shared purpose or interest.
Groups can be formal or informal, large or
small, and may exist for a wide variety of
reasons such as social, political, or professional.
Effective groups have clear goals, good
communication, and positive relationships
among members.

WHAT IS A TEAM?
A team is a group of individuals who work
together towards a common goal. The
members of a team collaborate, communicate,
and share responsibility for achieving their
objective. A team can be found in various
settings, including sports, business, education,
and community organizations. Effective teams
are characterized by strong leadership, clear
communication, and a shared sense of purpose.

Internal group structure now sorted, Group Identity
takes shape.

It is taken into consideration what type of group


behaviors and contributions are acceptable and
normalized within the group.

Formation of Implicit and Explicit group norms.

Norms create structure, like what do we stand for.

Group can readily slip back into Storming stage.

Cooperation and Cohesiveness.


PERFORMING
Work and progress commence on the basis of a
relatively stable group structure.

Moving in unison, towards goals and completion.

Action and results

Productivity

Group Cohesion

Not all groups reach this stage of development.


ADJOURNING
Completion and disengagement

Separation and ending from tasks and members.

Pride and accomplishment may be felt.

This stage might also be described as "Deforming


and Mourning" which means recognizing the
sense of loss felt by group members.
