REFLECTIVE ESSAY OF THE SONG “EARTH SONG”

The song entitled “Earth Song” by Michael Jackson wants to give us a message
which is to hear the voice of the planet and encourage all of us to do something about it
because it is people's mismanagement of earth and its nature that turns everything
around us, slowly dying.

Comparing the past and the present days we can see a very big difference in
nature. Before earth is abundant with biodiversity but in today’s time trees turns into
buildings and some of the animals are becoming endangered. People become greedy
and only think about profit without minding the effects of their actions, they forget the
nature and the species living to it resulting for the environment to be damaged. I still
remember before how me and my cousins used to swim at the streams but now the
streams dried up and the animals lost their habitat and people was slowly out of
resources. But when covid-19 came there was a positive change that can be seen in the
environment like garbage is now often seen in the streets, in the ocean and river, and
pollution was being minimized. Therefore, I have learned and realized that it is very
important to love and give importance with our nature because nature is our source of
life, the main source of resources. It gives us air for us to breath, water to drink and food
to eat, for free and without it, it is hardly for us to survive or in other words we could not
live without these "ecosystem services". Aside from that, we are the highest creation
therefore we should protect other creations that cannot protect themselves.

In conclusion the song is a wake-up call to all of us that we people are the one
who is destroying the earth. In connection with that we should change our behaviors
that can destroy the earth even more. We should learn to protect our nature the same
as how it gives us the things, we need in order for us to survive and let us not deprive
the new generation to see how beautiful and abundant our biodiversity is.
