Technical Guideline
1) Register yourself for the Stage two selection process at
https://www.australiaawardsindonesia.org/id/JST2023 no later than Sunday, 2 July 2023, at 2
PM WIB.

2) Attend the test as indicated in the notification letter.

3) Stage 2 consists of the following part:


a) Psychometric Test
b) IELTS Test
c) JST Interview

4) Psychometric Test
a) The test will be conducted online at
https://www.australiaawardsindonesia.org/id/PsychometricTest
b) People with disability are exempted from taking the test
c) The test can be completed online at your convenience. The test will be available from 3 July
until 6 July 2023 at 23.59 WIB. It will take approximately 90 minutes to complete the test.
d) Please set aside your time as the test should be taken in one go. Taking the test in a
distraction-free environment is recommended.
e) The test is divided into two parts:
i) the cognitive ability test – designed to assess your mental abilities such as logic,
perception, and reasoning by identifying numerical and visual patterns.
ii) the personality assessment - designed to evaluate your personality traits such as
openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness.

5) IELTS Test
a) Attend the English competency test as scheduled in the notification letter
b) IALF will e-mail related to the English test schedule and registration procedures. You must
check your e-mail from IALF regularly to complete the registration process.
c) You are required to show your Identity (KTP/Passport) as stated in the English test
registration form. You are not permitted to take the English test if the Identity card that you
show is different from the Identity card printed on the registration form. Please note that the
English test is free for Australia Awards applicants.
d) The IELTS test is not required for candidates who are exempted from taking it. The
exemption will apply to those who have already taken the IELTS test in 2023 and meet the
following conditions:
i) Masters: Overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0
ii) PhD: Overall 6.5 with no band below 6.0
e) People with disability (visual impairment) are exempted from taking IELTS Test.

6) Interview
a) The interview will be conducted face-to-face.

b) A morning briefing will be given to the candidates before the interview is conducted. The
briefing will be delivered at 8.30 am each day.
c) Candidates must attend the morning briefing.
d) It is important that you are prepared to discuss your study options and university at the time
that you are interviewed.
e) JST interview aims to see your ranking based on the following criteria. Please note that the
questions for each criteria are just an example. The JST panel may ask follow-up questions
that are not listed below:
i) Academic Competence
(Example: How do you choose the right program and university to meet your needs?
What’s the relevance of your proposed study with your previous study, current work and
organisational experience?)
ii) Professional and personal leadership attribute
(Example: How have you contributed to solving a challenge or implementing change or
reform in the context of Indonesia's development priority sectors? What aspect/s of your
leadership knowledge, skills, and practice do you consider to be well established and
effective, which people or organisations you worked with to solve the problem, and what
creative methods were used.)
iii) Potential Future Impact
(Example: How do you intend to use the knowledge, skills, and connections you will gain
from your scholarship in addressing the issues of Indonesia's development? What impact
do you believe your study will have on your career, life, and community?)
f) For Master (S2) candidates:
i) Your interview process will be carried out by a panel interview team consisting of 3
interviewers. The interviewers will be one Australian JST interviewer and two Indonesian
JST interviewers.
ii) Interviews for Master’s candidates will be structured as follows:
(a) 5 minutes opening & introduction,
(b) 20 minutes interview,
(c) 5 minutes Q&A
iii) Each interview will be followed by a 15-minute break.
g) For PhD (S3) candidates:
i) Your interview process will be carried out by a panel interview team consisting of 4
interviewers. The interviewers will be two Australian JST interviewers and two
Indonesian JST interviewers.
ii) Interviews for PhD Candidates will be structured as follows:
(a) 5 minutes opening & introduction,
(b) 10 minutes verbal presentation,
(c) 40 minutes interview,
(d) 5 minutes Q&A
iii) Each interview will be followed by a 15-minute break.

7) Please bring the documents below to the interview for data validation:
a) ID card (KTP/Passport)
b) Official (certified*) certificates/degrees.

i) PhD candidate: Bachelor and Masters degree
ii) Masters candidate: Bachelor degree, (including D3 and D4 for “Sarjana Terapan” – if
applicable)
c) Official (certified*) transcripts of results.
i) PhD candidate: Bachelor and Masters transcripts
ii) Masters candidate: Bachelor transcripts (including D3 and D4 for “Sarjana Terapan” – if
applicable)

* The official records department of the institution/university that originally issued the
document/s; or a public notary.

d) Original IELTS test result for candidates that received an exemption.

8) The date and time of the tests cannot be changed or postponed. Your absence on the test will
result in your application will not be further considered for the scholarships.

9) Once the selection process is completed, JST will provide the result to DFAT for their final
selection.

This handbook provides essential information for managing or participating in Australia Awards
Scholarships, including scholarship entitlements and benefits. The handbook is provided to answer
any questions you may have about your scholarship.

Pre-Departure Training (PDT)


• If you are awarded an Australia Awards Scholarship (AAS), you are required to attend the
PDT;

• PDT duration will depend on the awardee's English skills based on the following:

20 weeks IELTS ≥ 6.0 with one of the band scores less 8 Nov 2023 – 22 Mar 2024
than 6.0
26 weeks IELTS ≥ 5.5 25 Sep 2023 – 22 Mar 2024

• If you think that your English is at the level of IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent) or higher – then you
need to advise your employer NOW of the need to commence your Australia Award in
January 2024 – THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT for your employer to organise backfill;
• The aim of Pre-Departure Training is to achieve an overall exit score of IELTS 6.5 with no
individual band score below IELTS 6.0.

Reimbursement and Procedures


1) For candidates who reside outside Jakarta, Bogor, Bekasi, Depok, Tangerang, and Tangerang
Selatan area, you will be required to book your own airplane or ship or train tickets to attend the
IELTS test and interview in Jakarta or Denpasar. Please read the reimbursement procedures
carefully before making any booking;

2) Only economy-class tickets can be reimbursed;

3) AAI will provide a lump sum, which can be used to pay for your own accommodation and local
transportation in Jakarta. A lump sum will be provided to applicants outside of Jakarta, Bogor,
Bekasi, Depok, Tangerang, and Tangerang Selatan area. The amount of lump sum will be:
Waiting period between IELTS test and Lump sum amount
Interview (Not Including the day of IELTS test
and Interview)
< 2 days 1,000,000. - IDR
> 3 days 2,000,000. - IDR

4) Candidates who reside in Jakarta, Bogor, Bekasi, Depok, Tangerang, and Tangerang Selatan will
not be eligible for transportation reimbursement and lump sum;

5) The domestic ticket reimbursement process requires the following documents:


a. Reimbursement form that has been completed and signed.
b. Copy the first page of your bank account (name and account number).
c. Airplane boarding pass/ship ticket/train ticket (all must be original).
d. Airline/train tickets sent from airlines/Travel Agents/Online Agents.
e. Invoice/receipt from travel agent (if ticket purchased through a travel agent). Proof of
payment issued by an ATM or credit card (if purchased online) or proof of mutation from
a courant account.

6) We will not reimburse your ticket if:


a. The main reimbursement document (boarding pass, receipt/proof of payment) is not
original, or the reimbursement document is incomplete.
b. The flight ticket class is "business".
c. Purchase additional baggage (beyond the one provided by the airlines).
d. Re-schedule fees for personal reasons.
