Recycling is important, but I find the terms they use to be really close to green-washing practices:

What do you think of when you hear "post-consumer resin"? Some sort of natural post-
consumption resource? Like the resin you would naturally find in plants? Resin sure makes it sound
natural. Well it is very far from reality. What it is in fact is plastic. Recycled plastic, sure, but still
very much plastic. "Post consumer resin" is misleading (I even had a doubt for a minute whether
they were talking about plant-derived plastics such as PLA). It is best for our planet if we try to
avoid plastic as much as possible, be it brand new plastic or recycled plastic.

How can i try and do Something with PHA's in INDIA. I really want to make a change.. But i just
can't find an opportunity

Is there any training center or school that offers a course or major about eco-friendly packaging?

This is amazing. That first thing is brilliant solution. But they need to shut the tap off first. By not
pumping more crap into an already over flowing system. Companies need to work together. Co-
operation! Unite to make things better for the younger generations.

Ok, I get the point she's making but how about allowing people (who can) to have foodstuffs such
as cheese, meat etc. weighed in their own containers? And how about offering more products from
local suppliers in glass? Ok, so not everyone can handle that but many can.

I'm hoping to find more compostable packaging materials. Sometimes people don't even recycle,
and as we all know there's tons of recyclables in the ocean. Maybe you can make another videos
on compostable earth friendly packaging tips. I started a pottery business and planned to stay local
but keep getting asked to ship. Thankful of your videos. Some ideas I have for compostable
packaging are pine cones, hay, straw, real popcorn. It be great to get other ideas :)

Unfortunately, plastic never goes away it just gets downcycled and eventually ends up in landfills,
or as microplastics in our soil and water, many plastics end up in the oceans. Recycling is not a
solution to plastic, the solution is whenever possible don’t use it.
I hate that amazon keep sending stuff in Plastic bubble bags that can't be recycled :( why can't they
use boxes and paper and have some sort of tree planting initiative, and use only recycled card? Oh
yh...because that's probably more expensive and Bezos cheque would be smaller
I'd like to do more ecofriendly packaging, but it's so expensive :(

small businesses do more friendly packaging for the environment than any conglomerate

In the philippines, we use banana leaves to use as packaging. pass it over flame until it is glossy and
fragrant. The fibers will toughen up and can be wrapped around without breaking. It has a soft cushion
when wrapped around a couple of times. Good for shipping live plants, too.

It's great to see shipping materials that are all recycling!! It would be interesting to see if there's any
more natural and not processed materials that could be used, but if there isn't, I think this is the
best way! Thank you for your explanations

Another great resource for packing and shipping information you might like to check is a soaper
who used to work for a UPS store or a Box Monkey (I forget which) and who does lots of packing
videos. Her company is Missouri River Soaps and I believe her YT page is MoRiver Soaps. She
also uses as many eco-friendly materials, and I’ve learned a ton about packing and shipping from
her channel.

Thanks for this video. Our Etsy store is growing, and we've taken more notice of the amount of
plastic (bubble wrap, packing tape) we're going through to ship our goods. We make concrete
planter pots, which are both heavy, can have sharp edges, but is also sort of scratch-prone and
fragile. I had no idea Ranpack was a thing. We've definitely seen crumpled paper scratch the
concrete, so that was a great learning. In my head, I had always thought about how much more
expensive double-boxing is instead of using bubble wrap...but what I figured out was that my per-
box cost was almost identical to my 2'x2' bubble wrap cost for the large bubble style. So even
though I'm spending less on boxes, I'm spending more than the box's cost on additional bubble
wrap.

Thank you for this video! I just started a small business and using products and materials that are
environmentally friendly is incredibly important to me.
I'm going to start selling used books online and I'm worried about the packaging, trying to maintain
a low packaging cost but also friendly to the environment and appealing to the eye! I'll use Kraft
paper for most of the books (exterior packaging where I'll write addresses) but I'm thinking of
replacing the bubble wrap with honeycomb wrap paper to avoid all the plastic.

Thank you so much ! I want to make a GOOD impact in every way possible and this helps <3

PLA isn't 100% compostable, it has something akin to a half life so a large portion of it will compost
away, but there's still an amount left over that takes much longer. Also, as Lopis points out, they
require high temperature industrial composting (which is a good resource to have but isn't the best
quality). I wish there'd been photos of the flat wine bottles, they're pretty cool looking! They've also
spun off the packaging company to one named Packamama. The paperboard bottles are neat too,
though they've effectively just boxed wine, with a bag that's surrounded by paper

this bio-degradable food packaging made from agricultural waste should be made as a Cooperative
business model with Self-help Women groups or local communities setting up manufacturing unit in
all towns and cities all over the world.. it should be made very affordable, and it can eliminate toxic
plastics completely

Amazing information and video. For mordern humanbeing .Being eco-friendly is not a problem of
capability. But all depends on if you are willing to do it or not.

Great work sir ... please open factory in north India we will buy your products and also give wheat
and rice waste for making your products

supermarkets and fast food place should be putting money in these projects as they are the worst
waste makers

Hello! I want Manufacturing setup in which Rice husk or Wheat straws can be pulped and moulded
into disposable tablewares.

Bamboo and Tapioca are easily renewed fast growing resources. Bamboo forests regenerate very
quickly and are perfect for biodegradable packaging and products.
Great! I remember seeing those in Thai supermarkets, hoping it wasn't plastic. Coconut water was packed
in them. So GOOD to know it's easily biodegradable all-natural material!! Way to go! It's good to see
Thailand pioneering these efforts. Nearby Indonesia has terrible pollution, so hopefully Indonesia will
wakeup and stop polluting Earth so much, too. Of course same can be said for Malaysia and many other
countries, but especially Asia and possibly South America. Every country needs to do MUCH more effort.

This absolutely amazing. For someone like me who loves nature and see the impact modernization
is have on the ecosystem of my country, seeing impact like this and what you guys are doing to
make the world a better place makes me proud. I would like to work with you guys.

The use for floating on the water seems especially useful. One of the problems with a lot of
biodegradables is that they don't degrade in the existing waste management system as designed.
Still better than nothing in these cases, but far less than nominal.

It would be good to have packaging that can become biodegradable or organic to decompose.
It's a good start but it is clear that more R&D needs to be put in to eliminate plastic from their
packaging.
Great step in the right direction.

The only most sustaineable practice is Reuse. I've been a plastic and ocean concern all the while,
but now I start thinking of increase in deforestations for the sake of farming paper sources and that
includes bamboo farming. Can we just take the initiative to practice reuse everything.

I appreciate the biodegradable packages. However, when I purchased a Pearl Royal beverage, I
realised an aluminium can was present underneath the biodegradable package. The biodegradable
package just seems like a waste of resources and space...

Why don’t you use coconut coir fibre which is also biodegradable and renewable provides high
strength en less costly.

I get its eco-credentials but its just encasing a product (a can of drink) that already encased. So
you don't really need do this in the first place.
If it degrades in a week in contact with water.... why are they using it for meal packaging....even
ready made meals sometimes sit in the fridge for longer than that?!

Less waste, but they need to cut down bamboo forests to make them tho.

I love this idea, thats what I want because rice straw in my village are very much and I dont know
yet what I must to do. Thanks Eiri. Hope I will start it and please tell me more

Very good initiative. This is biodegradable and a solution for not burning stubble. We need more
factories to make such products to defeat products made with thermocole.

Sustainable packaging is indeed a challenge to adopt in these times of plastic. Going back to the
leaf age may not be a practical solution, but finding ways of safe and easy packaging as Nisha
brings in her video talk will certainly help make a more environmental friendly and healthy life for
man and beast alike on this planet earth.

Hope that most of the delivery packaging is done this way.

We are looking forward for environment friendly packing for our compost, which is durable during
transportation as well...please share any leads.

My problem as a small entrepreneur is that these environment friendly material is v expensive and
the client is still not ready to pay for it.

I mean, it's great that they want to reduce the waste like this but I hardly believe that packaging is the
problem. It's volume purchasing that is the problem. Most people don't have the time or ability to utilize
the quantities of every item we have to purchase and so a lot of that product gets tossed after going bad.
You want to change this? write laws against investor driven farm land ownership which will help lower food
costs, then promote a new modern system of volume product purchasing in local grocery where it's
become increasingly common to see more packaging in volume, than loose items for individual purchase.

make fully recycleable organic package and idk what else and then put an electronic and stuff in it
so it cant be recycled that easy and make higher carbon footprint :D :D thats what i call logic :D
I had no idea about notpla. This is such an exciting and innovative alternative to plastic. Can't wait
to see it become used worldwide someday, hopefully.

It’s great to see companies working on the packaging issue, great video! I’d love to see more
places make composting available so all these great products have a proper disposal path.

I'm from India, and the problem of plastic is huge even in my locality. I'd like to collaborate with
them on commercial level, maybe try to replicate their model. It would be a great help if you can get
us in touch. Great work. Thanks.

Guys and gals, never feel too pressured to reduce you packaged product consumption as it is
these big companies responsibility to fix this problem as they have the land, labor, capital and they
are the ones most responsible for the plastic crisis.

Wait. Is turning seaweed to plastic a new innovation? I thought it's where plastics came from.
Because we have a factory here named CP Kelco and what I heard from asking others is that they
made ingredients for making gelatin and other stuff and also plastics. Never did my own research
though to see if it's true. But yes, I rlly thought that seaweeds were already an ingredient in making
plastic.
I'm from India, whenever I see people throwing plastics around me, I get upset and frustrated. If
this seaweed material is used instead of plastics, that would be very helpful to Our Mother Earth .
Does this seaweed material decompose?
What about glass bottles are they eco-friendly? And what kind of bottle caps we should use on
them?
If your box has 'thin plastic lining' why not just use plastic bag
Hello um how are cardboard boxes paper bags safe for our planet ?

You are doing great job sir....I want to start a buisness on biodegradable products and your videos
are very helpful...please taught us with this type on new ideas....A very big thank...........
Can v also bring down cost. It would b good if it's low cost so people can set up local factories..it
will generate employment..the people can buy if they are cheaper..instead of thermocol , plastic
plates..when stray animals eat it will not b as harmful as plastic..and most of all people will have
less burden of cleaning utensils

Can u provide small scale pulling solution of wheat straw for production of biodegrable plates
Hi i want to know full details on rice straw conversion to useable product as the raw material is
available in abdunce at my place plz help me to understand and do something
A hope in biodegradable from straw, go green earth
These are called Blate Papes in America now, and they're mostly used for swallowing powdered
herbs and supplements. Much easier than capsules and hold up to 20x as much as one.. Pretty
dope stuff!
There’s this candy called White Rabbit, that uses this edible kind of plastic and is milk-flavored lol;
existed for a long time
If the single serve is placed into a larger plastic casing to protect it from getting dirty, would that not
defeat the purpose?
This isn't new.. The problem doesn't seem to be finding ways to make bioplastics. The problem
seems to be getting them out there and in widespread use.

They don't show the end product because milk protein-based "plastic packaging" is a natural base--
i.e. it doesn't dissolve, it disperses into little chunks they don't want to show on video.
They should add WAX in the milk with the citrus pectin to make the bioplastic film, water-resistance
! Add wax in the ingredient.
So the goal was to reduce plastic waste by wrapping food items in a milk protein that for sanitation
purposes has to be wrapped in plastic...
If they are edible are they safe aka healthy? Aka bacteria..infections of viruses..dirt..etc
Any one who does banana leaf packaging in india?

You can save time here as well... My mom will introduce the leaf directly to the flame with the
thandu.... It's far easier and quick, she heats one leaf in less then 45 seconds and then she cuts off
the thandu... We are looking for sustainable packaging as well... like paddy straw. But mould and
insect eggs seems to be major issues. If you have any ideas to eradicate those naturally do let us
know
Sir, just by watching 4 videos of yours I've become your fan. I have liked and subscribed to your
channel. I'm really proud of you, that at least some one in my country is worried about the soil,
global warming, natural agriculture etc.. Hats off to you sir..
Loved it...thanks Krishna for explaining the process of using plastic free, natural food packaging.
The nutrients from biodegradable packaging can go back to the Earth, closing the loop...thank you
for sharing
This will be a revolutionary practice, if people get back to traditional ways.. Hoping for the change.
Keep going anna!

This is awesome. Love it. We used to have all very nice habits, idea, technology and from ages in
Tamil .adu or in India in générale which were (and still are) very smart because it is all natural,
respecting the nature, ecology, environnement, and other people too. Nowadays we are going
backwards influenced by western habits. In the West now, they are going back to those kind of
ancien idea, technology and all but by never mentionning it comes from India or other countries.
Very nice , have you figured out how to pack liquids like Sambhar / Rasam in a eco friendly way?
We should recycle plastics... you are doing great Krish...we support you bruhh

What other methods have you tried for packing? Using palm leaves, teak wood tree leaves, ets.

My family rarely eat out in the hotels, but some time when we wish to eat the hotel stuff we use to
take our own vessels to bring the thing home.we never order food via the food delivery
companies .hotel should encourage people to bring their own vessels....changes should come the
peopleGovt., people talk about macro economics but they loose out massively at the micro level....
Opting for sustainable options, consumers will feel that they have done their bit towards
environmental safety. Hence, sustainability is also an excellent strategy to build brand loyalty. Many
cannabis packaging companies offer sustainable child-resistant packaging solution options such as
cardboard or paper packages, recycled plastic containers, etc.
Crativ Packaging offer containers, packaging inserts, and more that are 100% recyclable, reusable,
and designed to break down more quickly in landfills.
cardboard boxes are most frequently recycled; this type of paper pulp is relatively easy to process,
shape and cut.
in the context of packaging, it is also worth paying attention not only to the material that is used to
produce it but also to other collateral aspects that influence sustainability.

Suffice it to mention the implementation of returnable/reusable packaging policies, sending smaller

shipments, and avoiding over-packaging throughout the supply chain.
The global sustainable packaging market size was valued at USD 274.15 billion in 2020 and is
expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.1% from 2020 to 2028. (Grand
View Research)

According to Trivium Packaging’s 2021 Global Buying Green Report, 83% of consumers among
younger generations showed a willingness to pay more for sustainable packaging.
More than half (54%) consider sustainable packaging when selecting a product – younger
consumers (44 years and younger) are leading the charge.
A 2019 survey by Accenture found that 72% of respondents said they are buying more eco-friendly
products than they were 5 years ago, and 81% said they expect to buy more sustainable products
over the next 5 years.

Actually, we have sustainable packaging; it is the widely used plastic, cardboard and

paper packaging the environmentalists are all upset about. The only problem is all the brilliant
environmentalists who cannot figure out how to deal with it when it is no longer needed.
The best solution for packaging is to recycle it into energy along with all the other waste people
throw into their garbage.
The applications of sustainable packaging are almost in all industry verticals, but it has found a
major stake mainly in the industries such as food and beverages, wholesale, retail trade, FMCG,
healthcare, etc.
Video content is a great way to capture user attention and provide useful information in a short and
concise format. This type of content can be used to educate consumers on the benefits
of sustainable packaging, show how it is being used by a particular brand, or discuss the latest
trends in the industry.
The easier we can dispose of the packaging, the better for us and the planet. Sustainable packaging, so to speak, is a
For our sustainable raw goat dairy operation, we have chosen re-usable, washable glass containers, after much study
Some will tell you that the hot water and detergent used for cleaning reusable glass containers “costs more” than us
Stats also show that 5 percent of greenhouse emissions for a food product’s production comes
from its packaging process.
The youth is aware of the importance of sustainable packaging. Statistics show that 83 percent of
youngsters would pay higher for sustainable product packaging.
The total amount of plastic waste produced for packaging purposes will be billions of tons by
2050.

One of the worst options for packaging is plastic of which only 50 percent is ever reused.

The average carbon footprint per person in the US is 16 tons which is among the highest in the
world. This carbon emission also has a huge contribution from processes like packaging material
production.
Packaging innovation has come leaps and bounds in recent years as our environmental conscience
grows. We now have a huge variety of sustainable packaging options, including recyclable,
biodegradable, and compostable packaging.

Most automated machinery is compatible with sustainable packaging, allowing manufacturers to

implement a sustainable strategy without having to purchase new equipment.
Recently, eco-products will be made out of sugarcane, and microwavable, resilient, and
biodegradable. An alternative to plastic material should be recyclable material and needs to be
economical too.
Sustainable replacements for the plastic packaging of foods will be necessarily economically cost-
function inefficient, therefore, only when we abandon the present natural process run economy,
sustainability can be achieved.
packaging, so to speak, is a return to nature, to the use of materials that are less harmful to the environment.
