E. ASSESSMENT OF SOCIAL WORKER

Cosna Baute is a 64 year old woman and lived at brgy. minanga, tamparan, lanao del sur. She came
from a poor family and she got married at the age of 15 year old only. She did not go to school as Cosna said
"I don't know how to read and write" and which cause of her of being jobless in life. She rely only to the work
of her husband to get or meet their needs particular on foods

15 years ago, they start from sari-sari store, but after a couple of years the owner of the land kick out
cosna from her sari-sari store because of misunderstanding between cosna and the owner of the land that
her sari-sari store stands. Mrs. cosna was so sad and disappointed for what happened. Mrs. cosna and her
husband decided to go back in their own old house. When they turn back in brgy. minanga, they suffer
shortages on foods, which is sometimes they eat for twice a day and they often eat a cassava instead of rice
due to lack of money to buy a rice. They suffered more from being poor and relying only on her husband's
work to have a money and buy their foods like rice. Salic / cosna's husband can work only if someone take or
get him to work or help like harvesting crops, "karirik", but he is often no job or "nakatambay" only.

At the same year, one of the friends of salic gave a fishnet for fishing in the near lake and also he
taught salic some strategy on how to easily catch the fish. The couple was so happy for what they receive
because they have finally a source to have a money and can buy their basic needs. Mr. salic sells the fishes he
catches at the market and sometimes his neighbors in barangay bought fishes to him.

One day the couple was crying and so sad because their fishnet was stolen by unknown person, and
because of that their livelihood is gone. At the same year, their old house was broken because of typhoon or
storm. Luckily, the house of her brother is unoccupied and permitted to stay there. The problem to the house
they move is there is no source of water to get. There is a person from the neighbors talk to mrs. cosna and
help them to apply on the free hand water pump (ombak) from the local government. When they received
the hand water pump they put or built the hand water pump in the house they stay or moved. Some of the
neighbors was so happy because they can get water in the hand water pump of mrs. cosna instead at the
lake.

After a couple of years the owner of house kick out mrs. cosna and her husband in the house, because
of that mrs. cosna was so sad, crying and disappointed because there is no place they can move or stay. Mrs.
cosna immediately ask for help to her relatives to help them financially to build there little house. Luckily they
help the couple in expenses to buy materials and help them to build and finish their house. At the same time
mrs. cosna went back to their previous house to get their hand water pump but unfortunately the owner of
hte house didn't allow mrs. cosna to get back their hand water pump. And now, they only get water from the
neighbors and sometimes they didn't allowed and instead they sacrifice in getting waters at the lake which is
far from them and often they wash their clothes at the lake which is sometimes they slide while walking at
slidable way.

Some of their problems in living their house is lack of comfort room or toilet and instead they use
from the neighbor's CR or toilet and often they use a chamber pot or (Arinola). When there is a storm or
sometimes the rain is strong, the water from rain is easily get inside in their little house and a lot of their
things inside was soaked.

Often they rely on their plants for their foods to eat such as cassava and vegetables and sometimes
their neighbors gave rice to mrs. cosna. Sometimes when they get a leaves of coconut they make it a broom
or (walis tingting) and they selling it in the market, and also the (opar a niyog) they dry it to sun and after that
they sell it to the market, they buy it for grilling like for barbecue. Often they stay (tambay) at home and
jobless. When they get sick, often they have no money to buy a medicine and relying only to herbal medicine.
They have a 6,000 pesos yearly in their social pension but their pension is only for their foods to buy and
often it still short for them.
