Discontinued Hello, this thread is for our Android TV Box (AMLOGIC S905w, X96mini, Tanix TX3mini). Here I would like to collect all related firmwares, recoveries, updates, information etc. and discuss with you. I spent a couple of days working on this box and found out a lot about this box. I searched some addresses on the internet and collected all
helpful data. I hope it will make it easier for some users to deal with the box. Unfortunately my english is not the best, sorry for this. Whole important: I am also not a developer and I have no programming knowledge! I take no responsibility and guarantee, everyone is responsible for what he does to his own box! PS: I´m working only on X96 mini 2GB

Get factory code and scancodes by using Terminal Editor. - Open Terminal and type: su - Type in dmesg -c (dmesg = see the log and -c = clean log memory) - Next click any button on ir remote and type in Terminal Editor again dmesg -c - You should see the code of your IR remote. the 40 is the scancode for the power button. - Now you have to do this for every button of your remote control and note down which scan code belongs to which button. - After do this we can Edit the "remote2.tab" (Vendor/etc/remote2.tab) - Here we replace our factory and scan codes, save it and reboot.... firmware 1xUSB connection did not work and another firmware did not work the IR sensor. The X96 mini has different ports and hardware than the other box and no front display (only LED), no Bluetooth etc. I can not promise that all firmware works 100%. Recommended. Only small issue I faced is, media key (play, pause, next, previous etc) on remote not working on TX3 mini firmware. Else, everything seems working perfect or even better than X96 mini firmware. Somehow, forgot to back-up remore.conf file from last firmware. I put the zip file SD card and the device rebooted and it updated
the firmware but I didn't find kodi and also when I tried LibreELEC it didn't work so I repeated the process again and this time after the system update finished and Erasing nothing worked when the box reboot the display stuck on boot and no output on the TV when I remove and re-plug the power it is stuck on Tanix logo. Hi There... I have tested all Firmware on my x96 Mini. All Working!!! Sometimes it stuck by flashing... Try 1. Flash via USB Burning Tool (if not working try the Another USB Port from box) 1b. Flash via USB Burning Tool (if not working try delete Driver for Android Box reboot and try again, maybe reboot pc needed) 1c.
Flash via USB Burning Tool (if not working try to Plug-in Power and put a toothpick for about 10sec in av Port. 2. Flash via usb/Card (Recovery.img) 2b. Flash via usb/Card (Recovery.img) Flash twrp.zip Flash Firmware. 3. Flash via usb/Card (ota-Update.zip) 4. Flash via usb/Card burn Card maker 5. If Recovery not Boot, try install Terminal Emulator

What did you mean? The Remote for x96 Mini is not for tv, its for the Android box! Whats your goal to pair it with tv? You can configure the Remote Codes in the Box but you can not configure the Codes in Remote. sure you can enter pairing mode! there are two buttons on the remote one on left hand (red), another one on right hand (clear/grey). you

I am using x96 mini firmware. I was not able to open Tata Sky application which was always finding root. So I installed Magisk Manager. From Magisk Manager installed Magisk application using the third option,that is direct download. Closed the application and opened Es File explorer. Found su files in bin, sbin and xbin and deleted all three su's.
Shut down the box and restarted. Clicked the item tap to start safenetcheck with internet on. After it reported success I opened Magisk Manager and from left hand side top corner clicked the threelines icon and selected Magisk hide menu. I had already installed Tata Sky app. So I selected this application to hide root . Again shut down the box and
restarted. Ran Tata Sky application and to my surprise it opened without any problem. Also I did not uninstall Magisk. Don''t uninstall it. You may try your Vodafone appln. I was able to get Magisk installed on the stock rom. I'm working on setting my apps up now. However I first tired getting Android TV to work from
the link above, but keep running into an error. I first tired the directions on the download page for how to flash img version. This would boot to an upgrading screen, but the progress bar would hang near the very start. The directions say 5 mins. I waited for about 30 mins with no luck. I then tried again, and I let it run all night this time. I went to bed.
When i woke up the box was on and looked like the stock rom and UI.
Then i tried flashing it through TWRP and I got an error saying that the img file is too big for the target. (I also noticed this box has flash to boot, logo, and recovery. (-_-) The "x96 mini" firmware passed the "X96 mini with star background" screen but after loading all the apps on the main screen it "freezes" and does not work again. tried (15 starts approx). On one occasion, a sign came out "The MediaBox launcher application finished" and there it hung, frozen. On the TV box i have miracast and on my phone the default app it connects fine but the videos are very sluggish as if im pausing them. I tried an external app on my phone call "Cast to TV" and it was playing fine... both devices

There's no aeriel and it could be in a weak WiFi wave pattern I placed my box only a few meters from wifi router without anything blocking the signal. so i believe this is not the cause of the problem Perhaps I didn't explain sufficiently, move it around from its current location, even if it's 20-50cm left or right. Then retest the speed. The aeriel is crap,
it's current location might be in a down wave pattern where it needs to be in the up wave.
Just try different locations retest & use the best spot X96 mini has crap WiFi , so I use wired connection. With Tanix firmware WiFi is much better but I stick with wire ... Sky application which was always finding root. So I installed Magisk Manager. From Magisk Manager installed Magisk application using the third option,that is direct download. Closed the application and opened Es File explorer. Found su files in bin, sbin and xbin and deleted all three su's. Shut down the box and restarted. Clicked the item tap to
start safenetcheck with internet on. After it reported success I opened Magisk Manager and from left hand side top corner clicked the threelines icon and selected Magisk hide menu. I had already installed Tata Sky app. So I selected this application to hide root . Again shut down the box and restarted. Ran Tata Sky application and to my surprise it
opened without any problem. Also I did not uninstall Magisk. Don''t uninstall it. You may try your Vodafone appln. Are you using X96 mini Firmware on X96 mini hardware of some other device?

Hey guys, I have X96 mini. I flashed Tanix ROM and it was working great. Then suddenly, box stopped turning ON. Indicator light either remains red or blinks blue and red, but box not starting. I checked adaptor with electrician and it is not faulty. I tried to put another ROM image through SD card procedure, but light keeps blinking and nothing

Just googled for that box a s i found nothing about device temperature, what would be fine. With netflix running and after a while i switch to aidad temperature is 68 degrees celcius, soc temperature, accu it says 42. well 68 is ten more than globmalls box has. on globmalls box there is a heatsink on the cpu which here isnt. and the globmall runs 2ghz,

different components :silly: Besides components the circuit boards were completely different :silly: Then I flashed the M8S Pro W in the x96 mini, not the ATV voice controlled rom but the first rom when the box shipped.
It ran flawlessly :good: Then I flashed the ATV rom which worked even better, eventually deciding Magendanz's Nexus ATV rom superior to X96 mini's sufficient stock rom. Update I flashed ATX Xperience on my x96 mini but didnt like how it performed compared to Magendaz's Nexus ATV rom That us until I tried out Poison ROM meant to be flashed
on a Tanix 3 box, the performance is noticablely snappier and only time will tell which rom I'll settle flashing on my three X96 mini boxes, 2 Tanix 3 and 3 Mecool M8S Pro W. so again thanks for this thread and may i add two more roms worthy of mention 1) Magendanz's Mecool M8S PRO W TVStock Nexus ROM Android TV 7.1 This is the best M8S

tanix tx3 mini? Is the TX3 the same as the x96? Since I updated to the latest Tanix firmware, zoom or crop doesnt work on MX Player or Kodi. On Kodi, If I zoom in on the video it just stretches it instead of zooming in and keepin the correct aspect ratio.
On MX Player, crop is the same thing as stretch. I know its bad firmware because I don't have this problem on an A95x box.

1gb & 2gb when purchased. not trying to sound condescending, but guys/gals/etc. given the choice never buy a tv box with less than 2gb ram. since yours has 1gb have you tried installing a decent speed SD card and have it formatted as internal storage & install an autostart blocking apk like Startup Manager. I would recommend uninstalling non
essential apks and block as many unnecessary apks from start up.

same, red light only. I had to follow most of this tutorial. I did not have to short the nand flash but had to make a male male usb from a couple of old ones, quite easy just match the colours and twist and tape together. Original firmware is useless if you can't connect to the nand flash. Download original firmware from the link on the first page.

Tool recognized the Box without pressing the reset button and without shorting the pin. But while flashing I got this error at 1%: 0x10103005 ... Read item error. I nearly used every available firmware for s905w but always got the same error. I also tried flashing only boitloader or recovery which I extracted with the available customization tool. After
nearly daily trying and hours of reading nothing worked. I even got an original firmware from the vendor, but same.

atvXPerience with TWRP method and it worked fine. But then I tried flashing v2FF with USB Burning Tool and got the same error. After that I unticked erase bootloader and the error didn't came up. It said burning successful but the box never woke up. Now I have the same issue and even a second bricked box. I really hope someone can help us.

Armbian installation of AZW W95 2/16 (S905W) - Does anybody know which DTB should I use for AZW W95 (S905W) for Armbian? 1. I burnt Armbian_5.67_Aml-s9xxx_Ubuntu_bionic_default_4.19.7_desktop_20181228 onto a USB flash drive and followed the new instructions. 2. I did try those two DTBs (and for chaining each DTB you have to burn the
USB again): meson-gxl-s905w-tx3-mini.dtb and meson-gxl-s905w-p281.dtb. No luck with these two. After creating a user account instead of loading the desktop I get flashing cursor. After, I plunged the power and plugged it back in the loader says "Started Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes" and later nothing happens.

like and have time. Much of it just arises from trying and testing. I am not a developer. I do not want any donations. Update NonchersV3 After the update NonchersV2, init.d did not work.
Now everything works fine so far. :good: Kodi has been replaced by the 18.0 version.
All useless balast was deleted. init.d support. init.d tweaks. Build.prop tweaks. Playstore replaced by Aptoide TV. and some more .... Download: NonchersV3 Hi recently I bought X96 Mini but the stop and play/pause buttons do the same thing (play/pause). Can I change that? I'm running the stock ROM (20180821). I know there is remote.conf file in
/system/etc/ but I don't know how to apply the modifications I did to it. I tried 1) editing it directly (by remounting /system as rw) and rebooting 2) loading modified version from an usb drive with 'remotecfg remote.conf' but none of these work. Now I have a problem because the box has jammed on the boot animation and it does not go any further. I do not even try to run the box, nor update it or get into recovery mode because the reset button does not work. Anyone have any advice? Different firmware versions come with different bootloader versions, right? So if I have newer version of the
firmware than 12.05.18 I can't flash that the stock firmware in the 2nd post which is 12.05.18? (At least on phones it's that way). I ask that because I've modified the system partition (device came with root so I was able to remount system as rw) and AFAIK you can't OTA with moded system partition. Update For all people who have problems with the
reset button, etc.
with the NonchersV2. 1. download USB Burning tool 2.1.6 2. download any ROM (for example NonchersV3) 3. open USB burning tool 4. load the desired ROM / firmware and click on start. 5. connect the USB cable to the PC 6. press the button in the AV output and hold it down. 7. Now plug the other end of the USB cable into the box. 8. Now the
firmware should start to install and you may let go of the reset button. 9. That's it ... I recommend NonchersV3 to those who want to do without google and use the box purely for media and emulators. If you absolutely need google, I recommend NonchersV1.

Nonchers have build in MPEG2/H264 codecs with support for selectable subtitles build in to the video file/stream inside MP2 container? Let me explain: I use the X96Mini's stock firmware. I'm subscribed to a IPTV service which provides TV through various methods (on MAG device, on android with StbEmu, or as M3U file for use with
Kodi/VLC/PerfectPlayer/etc). I use the last option (M3U). Tried Kodi but it lags on some HD channels. Now I'm using Perfect Player which supports several decoders (Native,HW,SW,HW+). The "Native" decoder "Uses decoding abilities implemented in device firmware.". It's the only one that is able to run the HD channels without lagging. The problem
with that is it doesn't read channels' subtitles' streams. The IPTV's encoding is MPEG2 (for SD channels) and H264 (for HD channels) inside MP2 container. So that means the build-in codecs to the ROM can't read subtitles (switchable/multiple streams) build into the MPEG2/H264 stream or MP2 container (idk which of the two, probably the 2nd).

Tanix TX3 mini I gave my grandparents. My box is wired and I do not use WiFi. it is probably due to the bad wifi chip. Maybe expand the WLAN antenna in the device.

Once you are on stock then flash this rom.

and install new (this for driver to install fresh new). open program than load your stock firmware and remove tick from erase bootloader and start than conect your tv box and dont forget reset buton make presed if flashing is succesfull do again same procedure but now with option erase bootloader.
