1. The selling price of a jacket at a certain department store is $400. The department store
still earns a profit of $40 when it offers a discount of 20% during a sale. What is the cost
of that jacket after the discount?
2. A, B and C run a 200-m race in constant speeds. When A finishes the race, B is 40 m
behind A and C is 10 m behind B. When B finishes, C still has to run another 2 seconds.

realized that they only need 100 meters to complete their task. Moreover, the amount

14. The diagram shows a 6 by 6 board with three barriers. An ant is at the top left corner
and wishes to reach the bottom right corner. It may only crawl between squares which
share a common side, and only towards the bottom or the right, It cannot pass through
any barrier. How many different paths can it follow?
