The blind receive sight; prisoners are released;
Stressed ones find relief; distant ones find new life.

All: Good news for the poor is to fulfill their basic needs.
To make this possible, what truth does the Gospel proclaim?
Good news for the poor is to fulfill their basic needs.

Leader: Freedom for all those entangled those ashamed received new life!
Freedom for bonded slaves, care for the wounded,
Strong with help from God, let’s do our best for them!

All: Good news for the poor is to fulfill their basic needs.
To make this possible, what truth does the Gospel proclaim?
Good news for the poor is to fulfill their basic needs.

Hymn

CHRIST BE OUR LIGHT

Longing for light, we wait in darkness

Longing for truth, we turn to you.
Make us your own, your holy people,
Light for the world to see.

1/5
Refrain:
Christ be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ be our light, shine in your church gathered today.

Longing for peace, our world is troubled.

Longing for hope, many despair.
Your word alone has pow’r to save.
Make us your living voice.

Longing for food, many are hungry.

Longing for water, many still thirst.
Make us your bread, broken for others.
Shared until all are fed.

Longing for shelter, many are homeless.

Longing for warmth, many are cold.
Make us your building, sheltering others,
Walls made of living stone.

Many the gifts, many the people,

Many the hearts that yearn to belong.
Let us be servants to one another,
Making your kingdom come.

Invocation

Minister: O eternal God, be with us;

Lift the poor from their misery;
Give back dignity to all who trust
In the words and deeds of Christ.

Lighting of the Candles

Prayer

People: God in our callings and struggles,

Leader1: We have seen your people suffer inequalities and injustices,

We have seen the suffering of your people torn by war and violence,
We have heard the endless laments and cries of women and children,
We have heard the grumbling stomachs caused by hunger and indifference.

People: God in our callings and struggles,

Leader2: We have been moved by Jesus’ example in serving all people.

2/5
We have been inspired by his humility in service and his courage in justice.
We have been shaken by his compassion for the outcast and anger toward the greedy.
We have been encouraged to follow Jesus' way of service for all.

People: God in our callings and struggles,

Leader3: Call us out of our own churches and ministries to visit the peripheries,
Call us to break through the apathy and indifference within our faith communities,
Call us to solidarity with those who are rejected, marginalised and dehumanised,
Call us to actions of transformation and liberation of the oppressed. So be it!

Sound of the Bell

Call to Confession
Minister: Faced with a world victimized by greed, indifference and apathy, we ask God’s
pardon for the sins we have committed against humanity and the rest of creation.

Moment for silent confession.

Assurance of God’s Love and Mercy

Minister: May our loving and compassionate God teach us to be human again.
May we be renewed as we seek to serve God through our ministry to the people.
May God’s encompassing love and Everlasting River of forgiveness flow through us
That we may become channels of healing, love and reconciliation. Amen.

Hymn

ALLELUYA, ALLELUYA

Alleluya, alleluya, alleluya.

Adda kaniak ti Espiritu ti Apo
Pinilinak nga mangikasaba
Iti naimbag a damage
Kadagiti napanglaw
Alleluya, alleluya, alleluya.

Responsive Prayers

Leader1: O God, you have called us through the waters of baptism,

People: Empower us to work for Your mission and to follow Jesus Christ,
Whose work has inspired us to walk in the way of love and justice.

3/5
Leader2: O God, inspire your churches to work together as the living body of Christ
Called and anointed by Your Spirit to proclaim the good news to the poor,
And the message of freedom to the enslaved and marginalized,

People: To give sight to the blind and to give voice to the muted,
To liberate the oppressed, discriminated, and dehumanized
By the ruling structures, systems and powers of this world.

Leader3: O God, give us courage to proclaim the Jubilee -

to join in moulding a new order of justice and equity.
Embolden us to build with You the reign of peace and life abundant

People: Where every child and their family have food and a roof over their heads,
Where women, men, children, youth and LGBTQIA+ experience full dignity,
Where the poor and marginalized have access to basic goods and services;
where the world's resources are distributed fairly to all nations and peoples;
and where there is no hatred, prejudice, discrimination, nor oppression.

All Leaders: O God, call us to work toward genuine service and love for all creation.
By Your Holy Spirit, strengthen and empower us to go beyond our comfort zones.

People: To journey with You and with the suffering people and the groaning earth,
To serve the people whose hope is You alone. Amen.

Closing Hymn

TAYO’Y MAGPURI

Koro:

Tayo’y magpuri, tayo’y magpuri

Sa mapagpalayang Panginoon
Tayo’y magpuri, tayo’y magpuri
Siya ang noon, ang bukas at ngayon.

Dakilang Diyos ng kasaysayan

Kamanlalakbay tungong Canaan
Sa kamay ng mapang-alipin
Tayo’y iniahon…
Kaloob Niya ay kalayaan.

Koro:

Tayo’y magpuri, tayo’y magpuri

Sa mapagpalayang Panginoon

4/5
Tayo’y magpuri, tayo’y magpuri
Siya ang noon, ang bukas at ngayon.

Dakilang Diyos ng sanlibutan

Ang nagtubos sa ating kasalanan
Ang namatay ngunit nabuhay
Siya’y kasama natin…
Diwa Niya ay paghariin.

Koro:

Tayo’y magpuri, tayo’y magpuri

Sa mapagpalayang Panginoon
Tayo’y magpuri, tayo’y magpuri
Siya ang noon, ang bukas at ngayon.

Dakilang Diyos ng kapayapaan

Ating ilaw sa kasalukuyan
Sa gitna ng kasamaan (Tayo’y hinahamon…)
Tayo’y sinusugoo (Tayo ay tutungo…)
Sa buhay na may kaganapan…

Koro 2x:

Tayo’y magpuri, tayo’y magpuri

Sa mapagpalayang Panginoon
Tayo’y magpuri, tayo’y magpuri
Siya ang noon, ang bukas at ngayon.

Tayo’y magpuri…
