PLN ready to accelerate 522 green projects

with JETP funding

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said it is ready to accelerate the development of

522 renewable energy projects with the help of financing from the Just Energy
Transition Partnership (JETP) scheme.
The number of projects is much higher than the 163 green projects currently being
developed by PLN with various funding sources to help realize the 2060 net zero
emissions target.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said the utility has identified four energy
transition scenarios in the country within the JETP framework and carried out a
technical analysis with the International Energy Agency and a financial analysis with
the Asian Development Bank.
“PLN conducts technical and financial analysis to ensure that it can achieve its energy
transition goals with a workable plan and keep the company's finances healthy,” said
Darmawan in a statement Sunday.
He said PLN's commitment to the energy transition is concrete by running 163
renewable energy projects in various places in the country through various funding
sources. All of these new renewable energy (EBT) development projects have a total
capacity of 5.1 GW with a target of completion in 2030.
“We have good planning and build strong alliances to reduce emissions while
maintaining financial strength. We want this energy transition to be sustainable so that
we can increase the national industry,” added Darmawan.
He further said that PLN is currently consolidating all green projects that have not yet
received funding to enter the Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP)
under the JETP scheme. In this case, PLN has prepared 522 green energy projects that
could potentially be financed by JETP with a total capacity of 15.1 GW up to 2030, he
said.
A group of developed nations and international institutions pledged at the G20
Summit last year a climate financing worth up to US$20 billion under the JETP
scheme to help Indonesia cut down emissions and end reliance on coal-fired power
plants.
