What is fentanyl? NYL


Fentanyl is one of the most effective medications available to control acute pain.
It's almost miraculous. Its price is accessible. It ended the pain of millions of people
who undergo surgery or suffer trauma. It is a synthetic opioid that acts very quickly.
It goes directly on the brain receptors that control pain. It is 100 times more potent
than morphine. Unfortunately, it is also potentially addictive, and is attributed to a
good part of the approximately 48,000 overdose deaths a year in the United
States.

Damage it causes to the body


The harms of consuming fentanyl can be seen in different forms, ranging from
flaccid body to spots on the skin, but most consumption can be deadly. Some of
the health effects are:
 Pupils small, contracted, like pinpoint.
 Falling asleep or losing consciousness.
 Slow, weak, or no breathing breathing.
 Choking or chirping sounds.
 Flaccid body.
 Cold or clammy, clammy skin.
 Spots on the skin (especially on the lips and nails).

What is it used for?


Fentanyl is a substance that due to its chemical characteristics is used as a
recreational drug or as a precursor to other drugs. It is used in the treatment of
severe chronic or acute pain. It is also given when conventional painkillers do not
work.
