This document provides instructions for Assignment 02 for the Applied Physics program's spring 2023 semester. It states that the assignment is worth 15 marks and provides instructions on formatting, submission, and academic integrity. It then lists 3 physics problems to solve involving angular and linear velocities/accelerations of objects like a rotating carousel and weights on a bar when rotated around different axes. Students are to show all work and explain their answers in their own words.

ASSIGNMENT NO. 02 Assigned date: May 24, 2023 Submission date: June 06, 2023
Marks: 15 marks
Instructions:
Use only A4 size printing papers for the solution.
Printed assignment will not be acceptable.
Assignment must be in student’s own handwriting
File this document along with the submitted assignment.
All are supposed to concentrate on assignment on individual basis. If
the submitted document speaks about any copying, duplication or plagiarism, then it will stand canceled and ZERO marks will be awarded. Do all questions and explain them in your own words: Show all steps: 1) Angular and linear velocities. A carousel is initially at rest. At t = 0 it is given a constant angular acceleration Alpha = 0.060 rad/s2, which increases its angular velocity for 8.0 s. At t = 8.0 sec determine:
(a) the angular velocity of the carousel, and
(b) the linear velocity of a child located 2.5 m from the center, point P. 2) Angular and linear accelerations. For the child on the rotating carousel of Example 1, determine that child’s
(a) tangential (linear) acceleration,
(b) centripetal acceleration,
(c) total acceleration.
Two weights on a bar:
3) Different axis, different I. Two small “weights,” of mass 5.0 kg and 7.0 kg, are mounted 4.0 m apart on a light rod (whose mass can be ignored). Calculate the moment of inertia of the system (a) when rotated about an axis halfway between the weights, and (b) when rotated about an axis 0.50 m to the left of the 5.0-kg mass.
