Mom: I have something for you. (*Open the box.) It’s a cupcake!
Alfred: (Looking inside the box with a happy expression) A cupcake? Thanks
Mom! Can I taste it?
Alfred: (Alfred gets a cupcake and eats one.) (Alfred changes his expression.) Oh,
it tastes horrible, but still, thanks, Mom. Can I go to my room?
Alfred: It’s okay, Mom. I don’t want it to celebrate anymore. (Alfred went to his
room)
SECOND SCENARIO:
Friend 1: Why are you crying? Is there something wrong? I thought you were
going to celebrate Alfred’s birthday today.
Friend 1: Why?
Mom: I surprised him with a cupcake, but I think he doesn’t like it. I thought he
would be happy because it is his favorite.
Friend 1: Maybe we could get something for him. Look! There’s a flyer...
Friend 1: Yes. The name of the store is "Elizah’s sweets. It is popular in our town
because of the amazing taste of their cupcakes. Maybe we can buy a cupcake there
and give it to your son. Let’s go!
THIRD SCENARIO:
Setting: Elizah’s Sweets
Friend 1: Hi Elizah. It’s me, Friend 1. Do you have available birthday cupcakes?
Seller: Oh, hello, __________! It's nice to see you again. Yes, we have birthday
cupcakes available. Here’s the menu for our birthday cupcakes:
FOURTH SCENARIO:
Alfred’s mom and Friend 1 went back to the house to surprise Alfred.
Alfred’s Mom: I think you don’t like the taste of the cupcake I gave you a while
ago; I bought a new one from a good cupcake store.
Alfred: Wow! Thanks Mommy. (Alfred gets the box.) Did you buy this from
Elizah’s sweets, Mom?
Alfred: Yes, Mom, I love this! This is my favorite store when buying cupcakes.
