Flexibility in Result Interpretation

The result of the measurement analysis is a volume distribution characterised over the size limits of the
optical configuration used. The result may be presented and printed in a number of ways to suit the
users needs. The distribution may be listed as a table of results, giving frequency and cumulative forms
of distribution. It may also be plotted on the screen on a log size axis high resolution graph in frequency,
oversize or undersize form. A series of results may be overlaid on a single plot for comparative
purposes. These graphs may be copied onto the printer giving high resolution plots for report purposes.
Results may also be stored on disc and held for later recall at will. A recalled result can be tabulated
and plotted etc. with all the freedom of interpretation available when it was taken. Thus it is possible to
recall an old result to overplot onto the new, for example. In addition to this treatment of the
fundamental volume measurement it is possible to derive further information using numerical
transformations. The result may be transformed to the equivalent surface or number distribution and
tabulated and plotted as such if required.
The result may also be output as the equivalent measurement performed on standard sieve sizes. This
is particularly useful where laser diffraction is being used in replacement for sieves but it is inconvenient
for the end user to re-characterise internal control criteria taken for sieves. Indeed it is possible for the
distribution to be output at any size interval specified by the end user so that non standard control
criteria can be similarly accommodated. Finally the standard derived diameters, from D[4,3] to D[1,0]
are provided, complete with volume percentiles at any percentage points and the distribution moments
up to the 4 th.
