Rabbit Recommendations for a Beginner

Rabbits sometimes get thrown into this category of being super easy to raise/take care of, however they
are some of the most fascinating and fragile animals I’ve been around.

How to start your rabbit career/pet project?

1. Ask yourself if raising rabbits is something you want to do and would enjoy.
2. Determine what rabbit breed (small, medium, large) you’d like to have (Recognized Breeds –
ARBA)
3. Research that breed in full (requirements, cage size, nutrition plan, etc.)
4. Find a rabbit (Depending on Pet/Exhibition Quality the location and people will vary)
- I love recommending rabbit breeds and have connections to find most breeds!
5. Learn from caring for your rabbit through handling, nutrition, responsibility, etc.
6. Love your rabbit pet/project!

rabbits, online videos about developing new breeds, and much more!

About Me/Contact Info:

I am Jacob Lansing from Clinton County Ohio. I raise Dutch rabbits to show and sell on the state and
national level. In 2021, I raised the National Dutch Rabbit of the year, Shell! I also have a few market
rabbits (1 New Zealand and 2 Californians) that I like experimenting with. My passion and love for
rabbits is endless as I love helping the youth with their projects and learning from rabbits! Please let me
know if you need anything. If it a simple question on handling or dieting or a complicated breeding
question, I’m sure I can help! Good luck!
