SPD-SX Restoring Factory Data Procedure

What you will need to restore your SPD-SX

• SPD-SX
• USB Memory (Roland's M-UF2G is recommended)
• A computer with a USB connector (Windows, Mac)

Cautions With The Update

• When you execute the following factory restore operation, all wave and kit
data in the SPD-SX will be overwritten. If the SPD-SX contains important
data that you want to keep, save it to a USB flash drive before you
proceed.

Factory Restore Procedure

The complete factory restore procedure includes two steps in the following order:

- Creating a USB memory for updating.

- Updating the SPD-SX to the original factory data.

Creating USB Memory For Updating:

1. Open/extract the downloaded “spdsx_fact_data.zip” file on your computer.
A “Roland” folder and a “SPD-SX Restoring Factory Data Procedure.pdf”
document will appear.
2. Connect the USB memory to the USB connector of your computer.
3. Copy the extracted "Roland" file to the root folder of the USB memory.
* Do not copy the “spdsx_fact_data.zip" file; copy only the extracted
“Roland” folder.
4. Un-mount the USB memory from your computer as follows:

Windows:
Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task tray to un-
mount the USB memory and then disconnect the USB memory from your
computer.

Mac:
Drag the Drive icon of the USB memory into the trash in the dock and then
remove the USB memory from your computer.

Update Procedure:
1. Connect your USB memory to the USB MEMORY connector of the SPD-
SX.
2. On the SPD-SX, press the MENU button.
3. Use the cursor arrow buttons to select “UTILITY” on the screen and then
press the ENTER button.
