Geography Notes:

The world's largest ocean, the Pacific Ocean, is so vast that it actually covers
more area than all the Earth's landmasses combined. The Pacific Ocean spans
over 63 million square miles (165 million square kilometers), which is larger
than the total land area of all the continents put together. Its name "Pacific"
comes from the Latin word "pacificus," meaning peaceful, as the early explorers
thought it was calm and tranquil compared to the stormy Atlantic Ocean. The
Pacific Ocean is not only immense in size but also holds a diverse range of
marine life and fascinating geological features like the Great Barrier Reef and
the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the world's oceans.
