DVR-2040/ 1080 Video Playback Software Guide

Downloading and Installing the Software


If you have not already done so first register an account and log in to our web site www.vision-
uk.co.uk.

You only need to provide an e-mail address to register, and we will then automatically send you a
link to create a password. Once you have created the password you will then be able to log in and
access the documentation and software

To download the Video Playback Software got to our website and click on Downloads tab from the
header.

In the Downloads section you will find the Technical Documentation for all of our products.

To download the software for our current DVRs, click on the Software tab and then click on DVRs
supplied 2017 – Current, then select Software and click on the download button.
Once the download has started you will be prompted to give permission for the download to
continue and this will require that you have Windows Administrator Privileges to allow.

When the software has downloaded you can run the installation directly from the Downloads folder.

During the installation you will be further prompted


for permissions to allow the installation to continue,
and these will also require Administrator Privileges to
proceed.

When the software is installed, it will put a shortcut to run the program from the desktop.

Note: You must use the Vision Player Software to view the recorded video footage as the
footage is held in a hidden partition that other programs cannot see.

Removing the Video Storage Drive


The DVR-2040 records video onto an SD Card and this is removed from the DVR by unlocking the
security cover, pushing the SD card inwards so that it is released and can be removed.

The DVR-1080 The DVR-1080 records video onto an SSD Drive which is inside a removable cassette.
The cassette is removed from the DVR by unlocking the key and simply pulling outwards.

Connecting the Video Storage Drive to the Laptop/ PC


If the video is recorded on an SDD
connect the Removable Cassette to
the PC using the silver USB cable
supplied with the system (This must
be used).

If video has been recorded on an SD


Card insert the card into a SD slot on
the PC or via an SD Card Reader.
Using the Playback Software
On opening the program, you will be presented with the File Tab

To view recorded video click on the


Drive Letter for the Storage device
and wait for the “Searching” timer to
finish (if the Drive is full this can take
a few moments).

To narrow down the search parameters the Event Type and Time
Range can be selected. However, it is recommended that the full
days video is searched as the Timeline (see below) gives a very
quick visual reference that video is being recorded reliably.

Once the “Search” has finished you will see dates where video has been recorded, a snap shot of
each video segment and a timeline of when video has been recorded

The years and months in which video has been recorded will be shown as selectable options. For
each month the days on which video has been recorded will be highlighted. To see at what times
video has been recorded click on the date of interest.

To view recorded video either click on the appropriate snap shot of the video
segment or click on the time line at the required time (click inside the green band)
Viewing Recorded Video
Upon selecting the time point of interest from the File Tab the software will open the Video Tab and
start playing back the footage from the start of the video segment that the selected time point was
recorded in.

Click on an individual channel to show To select a new time point, click on the desired video segment
just that channel in the video window (or go back to the File Tab to select from the Timeline)

Map shows vehicle

Exporting Video Clips suitable for Generic Video Players
To convert and save an .avi clip of an incident click on the AVI button in the tool bar underneath the
video windows.

Select which cameras images are to be exported.

Time range that the currently select Video Segment starts and
ends. Note if the required footage extends past the end time
then a separate conversion operation is required.

Select the time period the video is to be exported from.

Choose a file name for the exported .avi files.

Check the MP4 format box if you want the video to be exported
as a quad image – Note all cameras must be of the same type

Choose a file name and target directory for the exported files

After Exporting files selecting Open opens the target directory

Once all your options have been selected click on the Start
button to start the Export

Please Note that Windows Movie Player does not play the exported files reliably so please use
Windows Media Player or other third-party Media Player to view the exported video clips.

Backing up/ Archiving Video Files in Raw Format


To back up/ archive video in the raw format use the File Manager Tool incorporated in the software.

This can be found in C:>Program Files (x86)>MDVR Player> File Manager>File Manager.exe
Click on the FILE MANAGER.exe to run the program

Select complete directory or the


individual files to be exported.
Click on the EXPORT button

Click on the Search Time


and wait a few moments
whilst the software finds
all the date directories

The exported files will be saved in the folder selected as the sav dir. in the FILE MANAGER.

Viewing Archived Video or Video Downloaded via Live-View


Click on Select Folder to select the folder with the archived/ downloaded video. The program will show the video
footage available for that day and that video can then be selected and viewed in same way as described above.
