He started by constructing the VIP toilet, he is now happy with his family but also gained the
prestigious status of being the first person to construct the new technology of an improved
toilet in his. As the result, he has been an ambassador to other village members thus
Community health workers (CHWs) and village executive officer (VEO) use him as reference for
promoting toilet construction in the community. Mr. Mkunyi says “I have received several
visitors from my village looking at my new toilet and asking me questions on how much I spent
and materials required to accomplish the toilet”
He is advising his neighbors to construct an improved toilet and use it properly to avoid

EVEN OLD FOLKS NEED A GOOD SANITATION FACILITY A STORY OF SPRINA ORANG’
Anyango is an old widow living in Majengo village in Rorya DC, she has no child and living alone.
He life solely depends on small agriculture and support from relatives, neighbors, and the
government through the (Tanzania Social Action Fund) TASAF fund. Before hearing about
FINISH program she had no toilet at all and claimed to not be able to construct a toilet due to
the fact that she is not wealth enough and old.
She was visited through door-to-door sanitation marketing by the FINISH Mondial Trained
community health worker (CHW). Despite all the odds they were able to give education on the
importance of having a safely managed sanitation facility, and prepared a work plan with her,
which she agreed to and promised to commit and follow the agreed plan.
During the follow-up visit, she has this to say “I have used all my savings and the money I
received from TASAF last month to construct this toilet though it is not of the quality needed I
will still finish it that, my capacity has ended here” she is now collecting resources to complete it
and start using it
FINISH Mondial program has been an eye-opener for most villagers like her and doesn’t
discriminate against individuals based on their age, wealth status, or physical being.
