Understanding Vision Defects: Myopia & Hyperopia

Defects of vision can occur when the eyeball is too short or too long, preventing the lens from adjusting its focal length properly. The two main defects are long sight (hypermertopia), where the eyeball is too short, and short sight (myopia), where the eyeball is too long. A person with either defect has trouble seeing objects clearly due to an inability to properly increase the curvature of the lens.
