What is the
reason for doing that? Is this a positive or negative development for the children?

It is widely argued that there are more and more parents who are expecting their
children to get high achieve and put a lot of burden on them. There are several
causes of this trend and from my perspective, it could be both positive and negative
development.
First of all, multiple reasons are considered why parents put a lot of pressure on
their children. The first reason is related to job opportunities. To exemplify, having
a position in prestigious companies, these days, the interviewees are not only
required to have noteworthy bachelor’s but also versatile skills, therefore, parents
tend to force their children to participate in many extra classes after school in order
to have full development. In addition, owing to dignity, some parents show off
their children’s achievements because it is also the mirror of what their parents
have taught them, therefore, the pressure on excelling various subjects by young
people increases.
For the positive aspect, it is obvious that having a burden also enables children to
have more motivation to complete their work and achieve their dreams. When
having pressure, students could feel the urge of finishing their tasks perfectly and
focusing on their objects, therefore, their work would be more effective. However,
if there is too much pressure, youngsters might commit crimes or have stress which
would affect their mental health directly. When young people have to work
productively with a hectic schedule and parents always compare them to their
peers, therefore, some students might think of crimes in order to have the attention
of relatives or impress their friends.
In conclusion, the fore-mentioned points demonstrate various causes for the high
expectations on children by parents today. From my point of view, this pressure
would give youngsters more motivation to achieve their tasks; however, if there is
too much burden on them, there would be some undesirable consequences such as
crimes.
