 ABSTRACT
Jannah. 2023. Audio Lingual Method in English Language Teaching for
Speaking at Tenth Grade Student of Language Department in SMA

This research begins with a background that discusses learning English

using the audio-lingual method for speaking skills in grade 10 majoring in
language at SMA Darussalam. This is caused by limited vocabulary and
lack of pronunciation in speaking. To overcome this problem, the researcher
conducted research on teaching speaking using the audio-lingual method.
This study aims to find out how the results of learning English using the
audio-lingual method in speaking in class 10 of the language department.
This research is a qualitative research. Data collection was carried out using
the method of observation, interviews and documentation. This research is
subject to a teacher who teaches in the class. The teacher was given
interview questions to collect data from the class.
The results of this study indicate that teaching speaking in tenth grade
languages using the audio-lingual method can be effective and can improve
students' skill abilities as well as increase students' enthusiasm for learning.
This can be seen from the evaluation results which are often carried out in
front of the class with a model practice conversation with friends. With
evidence of an average score of 75.65%, from the results of the evaluation it
can also be seen that speaking in learning speaking requires motivation from
a teacher. Because, it is something that can encourage student learning
activities.

Penelitian ini berawal dari background yang membahas

pembelajaran bahasa inggris dengan menggunakan audio lingual method
untuk skill speaking pada kelas 10 jurusan bahasa di SMA Darussalam. Hal
ini disebabkan oleh keterbatasan kosa kata dan kurangnya pronounciation
dalam speaking. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut peneliti melakukan
penelitian pembelajaran speaking menggunakan audio lingual method.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana hasil pembelajaran
bahasa inggris dengan menggunakan audio lingual method dalam speaking
pada kelas 10 jurusan bahasa.

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Pengumpulan data

dilakukan menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi.
Penelitian ini bersubjek pada seorang guru yang mengajar di kelas tersebut.
Guru tersebut diberikan pertanyaan wawancara untuk diambil data dari
kelas tersebut.

Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pembelajaran speaking

pada kelas sepuluh Bahasa dengan menggunakan audio lingual method itu
bisa menjadi effektif dan bisa meningkatkan kemampuan skill siswa juga
bisa meningkatkan semangat siswa dalam belajar., hal ini bisa dilihat dari
hasil evalusi yang sering dilakukan didepan kelas dengan model praktik
percakapan Bersama teman. Dengan adanya bukti dari nilai rata-rata
75,65%, Dari hasil evaluasi itu juga bisa dilihat bahwasanya speaking
belajar speaking itu diperlukan yang Namanya motivasi dari seorang guru.
Karena, itu adalah suatu hal yang bisa mendorong dalam kegiatan belajar
siswa.

opportunity and ability to complete this thesis. Blessings and

greetings to our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW who has

guided us to have a good life, the last messenger of Allah who

brought perfecting Islamic teachings and saving human life from

destruction to safety is part of Allah's right.

This thesis is entitled Audio Lingual Method in English

Language Teaching for Speaking at Tenth Grade Student of

Language Department in SMA Darussalam Period 2022-202. He

was handed over to the Department of English, Faculty of

Islamic Education, Darussalam Institute. In completing this final

assignment, researchers have encountered several difficulties,

especially in collecting and analyzing data.
