TASK 4

CREATING A BUSINESS
SPREADSHEET

Part of you job at Quik Pix will be using a spreadsheet to


track income and expenditure, so that company accounts can
be produced at the end of the year.

Mr Line, the owner, wants to make sure you are up to the


job, and has asked you to do the following tasks, so that he
feels confident you know what you are doing.

Use annotated screenprints of the e-mail messages to provide evidence that you have
completed all these tasks.

Task 4A

Create a spreadsheet based on the data provided, to calculate the


income and expenditure for the months April to July, shown below.
Use suitable titles and row and column headings. Make sure that
you enter text and numbers accurately.

Task 4B

Format the cells in the spreadsheet appropriately by using:

• Number format (decimal places, currency, date)


• Text formatting (font style, size, alignment)
• Borders and shading

Task 4C

Use appropriate formulae and functions to calculate:

• The amount paid by the customer for each order (the Amount
+ VAT)
• The company's income (total up the Amount column).
• The amount of VAT to be paid (total up the VAT column)
• The amount of money paid by customers (total up the Amount
+ VAT column)
• The total expenditure for the four months.

Work out a running balance (the company's income less its


expenditure).

Calculate the income/expenditure for each of the four months by


producing a total for each month.

Add extra rows/columns to your spreadsheet as necessary to


display the new data, using suitable headings, and formatting data
correctly.
