QUESTION 1

In this experiment you are going to determine the nutrients that are present in some food
samples using two different tests.

You are provided with solution S1 and S2, iodine and biuret solutions.

(a)Test 1

(i) Put about 3 cm 3 of solution S1 in a clean test tube and add two to three drops of iodine
solution. Write your observation and conclusions in the table below.

(ii) Using a clean test tube put about 3cm 3 of solution S2 in a test tube and repeat the
procedure in (a) (i).

(b) Test 2

(i) put about 3cm3 of solution S1 in a clean test tube and add a few drops of biuret reagent.
Write your observations and conclusions in the table below.

(ii) put about 3cm3 of solution S2 in a clean test tube and repeat the procedure in (b)(i).
