1. A manufacturer estimates that the profit from production of x units of a certain item is
P (x) = -600+40x – 0.02x2 . How many units should be produced for maximum profit?

2. The demand function for a certain commodity is p( x) 10 0.001x where p is measured in

dollars and x is the number of units produced and sold. The total cost of producing x items
is C ( x) 50 5x . Determine the level of production that maximizes the profit.

3. The demand function for a certain product is linear and defined by the equation 2
, where x is the total output. Find the level of production at which the company has the
maximum revenue.
4. A plant produces and sells semiconductor devices. The cost per one unit (unit cost) depends
on the volume of production and includes a fixed part 1000 ($/device) and a variable part 2n
($/device), where n is the number of units produced per month.
The price of the device , in turn, depends on the volume of production according to the law
𝑝(𝑛) = 10000 − 𝑛 ($/device). Determine at what volume of production the profit will be
the highest?
5. The company of boxes Luzma (for cakes) in Navojoa, estimates that the average cost per unit
when manufacturing x boxes is 𝐶̅ (𝑥) = + 3 + 0.0011𝑥. Find the number of boxes the
company must produce to minimize its average cost per unit.
6. The manager of a 50-apartment building has set a rental price of $3,600 per apartment per
month. He realized that if he maintains that price, all the apartments are leased, but for every
100 pesos of increase, one department is vacant. What price should he charge per department
to maximize the income that comes from that building and what would be the maximum
income?

7. The travel agency “La suiza Peruana” offers a package to Machu Pichu-Peru (hotel and plane)
for groups of 50 students or more. If the group is exactly 50 students, the price per person is
1,000 dollars. However, the price is reduced by $10 for each additional student to 50. If for
the travel agency the cost for each client is $200. . How big should the group to travel for the
agency to obtain the highest possible profit? What would be the price of the package? What
would be the maximum profit that the travel agency would obtain on this trip?
8. A company has a production capacity of 100 units per week. If your total cost in pesos is
C(x) = 500 + 1500x and your total income in pesos is determined by the function
R(x) = 1600x-x2. A) Find the number of units that should be produced to maximize your
profits, B) Get the maximum profit, and C) Calculate the marginal profit for every 100
units. Interpret the results.
9. If the total cost of a certain product is C (x) = 20 + 2x + 0.1x 2, where x is the number of units
produced and each product is sold at 32 pesos. A) Obtain the units to be sold to maximize
profits and B) Find the maximum profit.
10. The average cost per unit when manufacturing x number of bicycles is
𝐶̅ (𝑥) = 800 / x + 500 + 0.02x dollars. A) Find the units that will need to be produced to obtain
the average cost per minimum unit and B) Obtain the average cost per minimum unit.
11. A factory produces safety lamps at an average cost per unit of C ̅ (x) = x ^ 2-8x + 30 pesos
where x is the number of units produced. A) Find the number of lamps that will need to be
produced to obtain an average cost per minimum unit and B) find the average cost per
minimum unit.
12. A company has a total income in pesos, determined by R (x) = 2800x-8x2-x3 for a certain
product. A) Find the maximum income for the sales of that product. and B) obtain the
marginal income for 20 units.
13. Laura sells cookies as gifts for Friendship Day. Last year he sold them for $ 10 each and his
average daily sales were 30 packages of cookies. When she increased the price to $ 11, she
noticed that the average had decreased 2 packages for each day. Find the demand function,
assuming it is linear. If the material Laura uses in each cookie package costs her $ 5. What
should her selling price be to maximize her profits?
