SLS Teacher Orientation and Training

Scribe: Mr. John Paulo Cortez

Emcee: Mrs. Jofelanie Gaddi
Opening Prayer: Ms. Tess Sampang
Reflection: Rev. Steve Mercado
Welcoming Remarks: Mrs. Miriam Berroya
Report: Mr. Francis Abner Abanilla

Summary of report:

The program started when Mr. Mercado shared his reflection, on what’s happening right
now and relating it to peace the Jesus Christ felt during his life. “We should no longer be afraid
nor anxious but we should have peace,” he said.

Soon afterwards, Mrs. Berroya gave her welcoming remarks. She gave her insights about
the changes in the education system and how to cope with the new normal.

Then, Mr. Abanilla informed the teachers about the rules and regulations which are to be
followed inside the campus and addressed the online survey conducted by the school for the
parents and students. Here’s a breakdown:

 90% of the families participated in the survey.

 89% of the parents are willing to take risk of sending their child to school if the city and
neighboring areas are COVID-19 free.
 65% of the respondents agree to online learning.
 A mean score of 3 out of 5 students are mentally, psychologically, emotionally and
physically active and well.

The teachers answered a survey on how equipped they are in using Zoom and/or Google
Meet applications which will be used for online teaching and video conferencing.

Mrs. Berroya discussed an overview of the schedules and activities for SY: 2020-2021:

 June 1- start of training for online teaching.

 June 17- GENYO Learning Management System training.
 August 3- tentative start of SLS school year.

She also mentioned MELC or Most Essential Learning Competencies (to be discussed on
June 2).

During the afternoon, the teachers participated in the online teaching training where Mr.
Mercado served as the “online teacher.” The last part of the program was the awarding ceremony
for teachers with good and perfect attendance and loyalty awardees.
