Topic: Nouns

A noun is a word that functions as the name of a specific thing or a set of things, such as living creature.

Regular Nouns- a regular noun is a noun that forms plurals by adding -s, or -es. 
Irregular Nouns- an irregular noun is a noun that becomes plural by changing its spelling in other ways than
adding an “s” or “es” to the end of the word.

Rules in Changing Regular Nouns into Plural Form:


 Add –s or –es to most nouns.
 For nouns ending with the sounds /ch/, /s/, /sh/, /z/, and /ks/, add –es.
 For nouns ending in f or fe to v and add –es.
 For nouns ending in y and preceded by a consonant, change y to i and add –es.
 For nouns ending in y and preceded by a vowel, just add –s.
 Add –es to some nouns ending in o, to others add an –s only.
