studs is → M = 10 Nm
2. Coat threads and contact surfaces of the nuts with Molykote paste G - n.
Check: At a tightening torque of 160 Nm the nuts must nut turn further.
Instead of Molykote paste G - n paste Dag S5080 may be used. In case of
reinstallation: Replace studs if projecting length of bottom support
exceeds 329 mm.

loosen the nuts with a pin.
Gap
After tightening the big end bolts
1. Mount measuring device on camshaft side acc. to sketch.
3. Loosen big end bolts 1 - 2 (camshaft side) by means of the hydraulic device .
5. Loosen big end bolts 3 - 4, then tighten all big end bolts acc. to specification.
Dismounting
Only by MaK representatives !
For removal the bush must be relieved, either by sawing or by milling. Never press
the bush out.

accessible.
4. Remove screws/nuts, in case of arrangement with nuts remove the tie bolts, too.
Tie bolt has spanner size: 30
5. Align the lifting bar parallel to the counterweight and screw it on.
7. Fitting in reverse order with tightening of the screws and nuts acc. to
specification
After completion of mounting both gear wheel halves must fit tight, there must not
be any gap.

Basic setting
In position of the roller resting on the
base circle of cam coincidence of
line marks 1 - 2 must be visible in the
1 2
window of the fuel injection pump.
Commencement of delivery
Turn roller on the base circle of cam, check if the line mark - 1 - on
the spring cup coincides with the line mark - 2 - on the pump casing.
In case of major deviations :
Dismount the injection pump.
Dimension „a“
Check dimension " a " between the
upper housing edge of injection
pump drive and thrust bolt.
The nominal dimension is :
2 ± 0.1 mm 2
In case of deviations insert
corresponding shims - 1 -
between thrust bolt - 2 - and
thrust piece - 3 - of the roller
tappet and adjust the dimension 1
„a" of 2 ± 0.1 mm in this way. 3
Mount the injection pump and
repeat check of commencement
of delivery.
Remove nuts and shims for fixing of the additional weight from the damper. Seal
nuts with Loctite 242 or an equivalent or secure them resp.
Attention ! Variant -72 for 6 cyl. generator engines and 8 cyl. marine engines.
