MODULE I

I. Find a book on Writing standards. Attached in this module the photocopy of that particular topic.
II. Read about it.
III. Make a hand out type of note taking on the standards of writing.
IV. Discuss what do you think are your challenges you might encounter in writing when your writing
outputs will be checked according to these standards?
V. Recall the time when you start and was doing writing and answer the following:
a) When did you write, and where?
b) What worked, what didn't, and why do you think it did or didn't?
c) What sorts of things distracted you?
d) What sorts of things helped you write? (My own Notebook, for instance, would probably have a
lot to say about what music I had playing at the time I was writing, since I never write in silence
and certainly write better with some music over others.)
e) How long could you keep your concentration going?
f) Did classes or the readings help you?
g) Can you chart the ebb and flow of your writing?
h) What are your impressions about your writing? What are your struggles and successes?

MODULE II
I. Research on the Major types of essay. Use a published book for this.
II. Find a published article example for each of the major types of essay.
III. Make your personal reflection/thinking toward each article.
MODULE III
Tell About Yourself Essay
Direction: Create an essay about yourself. Follow the guidelines of your essay as reflected below.
1. Make a Title of your essay
2. Organize the contents of your essay according to the following order:
i. Personal biography
ii. Family background
iii. Educational background
iv. Work background
v. Interest
vi. Hobbies
vii. Skills and knowledge
viii. Your achievements
ix. Major experiences
x. Life goals
3. Write it in a minimum of 1000 words.
4. Observe proper margin and indentions.
5. It must be hand written on a neat and clean yellow pad.
MODULE IV
I. Choose a person, a place, object or even a memory of special significance.
II. Describe what you have chosen. Describe it by showing not telling it through the use of colorful words
and sensory details. Include in your description anything that would stir reader’s emotions.
III. Write it in a minimum of 1000 words.
IV. Observe proper margin and indentions.
V. It must be hand written on a neat and clean yellow pad.
MODULE V
I. Find an interesting topic in your field of specialization.
II. Find the facts, statistics, and examples about that particular topic.
III. In your own understanding explain the facts, statistics, and examples that will make you topic clear to
grasp.
IV. Write it in a minimum of 1000 words.
V. Observe proper margin and indentions.
VI. It must be hand written on a neat and clean yellow pad.
MODULE VI
I. TOPIC: Take a stand supporting something you don’t believe in (like ordination of women, evolution
theory, pastor officiating between an Adventist and nonbeliever couple, etc…) Write a five page essay
which makes a sincere attempt to persuade your readers to agree with the position you have adopted.
II. Note: Do not worry if you change sides after doing your research. You are simply required to start with
a topic contrary to your real opinion. Also, you do not have to argue for something you find morally
repugnant (although you may do so if you wish).
IV. Write it in a minimum of 1000 words.
V. Observe proper margin and indentions.
VI. It must be hand written on a neat and clean yellow pad.
