Noisy, one could always hear the ringing of phones, typing on the computer, music, printers
making noise, and the sound of TVs.

Constant clatter of footsteps of the staff members.

On that particular day, the whole building was unexpectedly quiet.

You felt the sunshine on your face and you woke up. You checked the time on your phone.
10.00 am! You were surprised that it was so late. In fact, you were always woken up by the
alarm of building X, in which you work. The alarm made sharp ringing noises/ sounds which
woke up everyone living in proximity to building X. The alarm rang when people opened the
gate to enter the building with their cars or when they used the front door. You were shocked
that the alarm didn't wake you up. Immediately, I went next to my windows to check if there was
any issue. Arriving near the windows, I didn't see any cars in the parking lot.

You leave your apartment and walk to the building to check what is happening. On that
particular day, the whole building was unexpectedly quiet. Normally, one could see a number of
staff members walking around and hear their footsteps. One could hear the sound of typing, of
printers and one could smell the scent of freshly made coffee. The meeting room was quiet. This
felt weird as this building was always filled with activity. However, today, you couldn't hear
people talking, laughing. The office music was also off.

It felt as though something was going badly because even all the windows were closed. Usually,
the windows remained open. Using the office phone, I called the security officer. He took the call
on the second time. I ask, ”What happened in building X?” He told me that all the workers were
at the funeral of Mr. Y. I was shocked/ startled when I heard this. WIthout wasting time, I went to
Mr. Y’s house to join the mourning and gave your sympathies.
