Coyotes that was acclaimed by the sports and specialized press.1 Finally, after

addition, he was called up by the senior Russian national team and appeared on

the NHL All-Star team in 2006 and 2007.

Connor Andrew McDavid (born January 13, 1997) is a Canadian professional ice

hockey center and captain of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League

(NHL). Having been selected first overall by the Oilers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft,

Hart Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player deemed most valuable to his team, in

2017 and 2021, and the Ted Lindsay Award three times as the best player voted

by the NHL Players Association. Additionally, McDavid is one of only two

unanimous Hart Trophy winners in league history, joining Wayne Gretzky.

McDavid grew up in the Toronto area and played hockey there, and was awarded

"Outstanding Player" status by Hockey Canada, allowing him to play junior major a

year earlier. Therefore, he joined the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League

(OHL) and spent three years with the Otters before being selected first overall by

the Oilers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. McDavid played for Canada's junior

national team in one World Under-18 Championship, two World Junior

Personal life

McDavid was born in 1997 in Richmond Hill, Ontario to Brian and Kelly McDavid.

He has an older brother named Cameron. McDavid first skated at age 3 and began

playing hockey the following year; their parents lied about their age because the

participants had to be 5 years old. When McDavid was 6 years old, the hockey

association in his home town of New market did not allow him to play above his

age group. Instead of having him play at the lower level, McDavid's parents signed

him up for a team in nearby Aurora, where he played against players as young as

9 years old. McDavid later joined the York-Simcoe Express, a team in Aurora,

Ontario, where he was coached by his father, Brian; the team would go on to win

four Ontario Minor Hockey Association Championships.
