Algeria is the largest country in Africa with an area of 2,481,741km2 . It is located in north Africa and has
borders with several countries ,Tunisia from the east Morocco from the west and Libya , Niger and Mali from the
south . Algeria is devided into three parts : the Tell , the high plateau and the southern part which includes a
significant portion of the Sahara .The north is more diverse with ranges of mountains and fertile plains like Metidja .
The population of Algeria is about 42 million inhabitants. Many civilizations moved on Algeria from the Romans
who left historic ruins as in Djemila ,Timgad and Cherchell , to the Arab muslims who ruled Algeria for centuries
and left wonderful monuments such as Mansourah in Tlemcen . All these civilizations created a variety of cultures
split between Arabic , Tamazight and French. In literature , Famous novelists enriched the Algerian library like
Mohammed Dib , Kateb Yacine and Assia Djebbar .
Algerian cuisine is rich and varied .The country was considered as“ the granary of Rome” in the past .It offers a
component of different foods and dishes .
In terms of sports ,the Algerian people are fond of football and consider it as the most popular game . They
support their national team whenever it plays or participates in the international competitions.
