The maximum load sustained by the sample is used to determine the crushing strength of the pin on. the projection area of the pin in contact with the delivered sample. Note - This method uses the maximum load to determine the crushing strength of the pins. This load is at a level similar to the intial failure in similar tests with bolts tightened bya certain force. The determination ofthe characteristics of connections on bolts lightened with a certain force largely depends on the actual conditions noted. This incltides the initial torsion moment of the bolt (taking Into account any load losses in the bolt threads), the relaxation effect due to viscoelastic effects, the effect of heating and humidification conditions, washer size/over-size, bolt material, rivets, chamfer depth and plate thickness, Therefore, in addition to the smooth pin test , additional tests are supposed to be carried out for the actual connection conditions. D.2 Equipment 1.2.1 Testing facility according to GOST 28840. D.2.4 Loading device: the pin is loaded by means of a metal double- shift plate shown in Figure D.1. The plates must have a gap of 0.5 mm on either side of the sample and must not deform under applied load. Similarly, the load pin must not deform during the test and must have a tight fit, unless otherwise specified. 7 = spacer plate (thickness = h + 1’mm); 2- side plate made of hardened steel; 3 - bushings made of hardened steel, sliding fit in side plates (optional); 4- smooth pin; 5 - test sample (h). Guidelines for the use of plates, if they are required, are given in GOST 00002 D.4.1.3 Cutting and drilling of test samples should exclude them damage D.5 Conducting tests D.5.1 Five samples are subject to testing. D.5.5 The test results of samples that do not collapse under the stress of crumpling are rejected, and new samples are used instead. The number of rejectod samples and their types are subject to registration Note - Types of rejected samples include residual deformation or fracture, pin shearing, tensile rupture, and stress reduction (.e., the sample becomes too thin).
