RABBIT’S BIRTHDAY

6 Characters & Narrator: ______ Rabbit*, Petunia Pig, Katie Cat, Danny Dog, Sammy Snake, Freddy Frog

(Start with cupcakes in front of Rabbit’s “Happy Birthday” room)

Narrator: Rabbit was having a birthday. She* invited some friends to a party at her* teeny
tiny rabbit hole.

Rabbit: [ENTER RABBIT] I hope nobody brings any presents, though. Because there’s
just no room in my teeny tiny house.

Narrator: The first friend to come was Petunia Pig. She brought ONE BUCKET OF SOGGY
BOGGY MUD.

Petunia Pig: [ENTER PIG] (Place mud prop in front of set) Mud is my favorite thing. Happy
Birthday, Rabbit!

Narrator: Petunia Pig went over to nibble on a cupcake.

Petunia Pig: I’ll choose a pink one. Yum yum yum. (She goes and nibbles pink cupcake)

Narrator: The next friend to come was Katie Cat. She brought TWO BALLS OF YARN.

Katie Cat: [ENTER CAT] (Place yarn prop in front of set) Yarn is my favorite! Happy
Birthday, Rabbit!

Narrator: Katie Cat went over to nibble on a cupcake.

Katie Cat: I’ll choose an orange one. Yum yum yum. (She nibbles orange cupcake)

Narrator: The next friend to come was Danny Dog. He brought THREE CRUNCHY DOG
BISCUITS.

Danny Dog: [ENTER DOG] (Place dog biscuits in front of set) Dog biscuits are my favorite!
Happy Birthday, Rabbit!

Narrator: Danny Dog went over to nibble on a cupcake.

Danny Dog: I’ll choose a chocolate brown one. Yum yum yum. (He nibbles brown cupcake)

Narrator: The next friend to come was Sammy Snake. He brought FOUR STINKY FISH.

Sammy Snake: [ENTER SNAKE] (Place fish) Fish are my favorite! Happy Birthday, Rabbit!

Narrator: Sammy Snake went over to nibble on a cupcake.

Sammy Snake: I’ll choose a red one. Yum yum yum. (He goes and nibbles red cupcake)

Narrator: The last friend to come was Freddy Frog. He brought FIVE FURRY FLIES.

Freddy Frog: [ENTER FROG] (Place flies) Flies are my favorite! Happy Birthday, Rabbit!
Narrator: Freddy Frog went over to nibble on a cupcake.

Freddy Frog: I’ll choose a green one. Yum yum yum. (He goes and nibbles green cupcake)

Narrator: Rabbit looked at all the gifts. Whatever was she* going to do with five furry
flies, four stinky fish, three doggy biscuits, two balls of yarn, and one bucket of soggy boggy mud?

Rabbit: All these presents don’t fit in my teeny tiny house!

Narrator: But all the friends nibbled cupcakes and played games together. At the end of the
party, Rabbit had an idea.

Rabbit: I had so much fun today, I want to give you all going-home presents!

Narrator: So when Freddy Frog left, Rabbit gave him the five furry flies.

Freddy Frog: Thanks for the great present, Rabbit! Ooh, I love flies. (take away flies)

Narrator: When Sammy Snake left, Rabbit gave him the four stinky fish.

Sammy Snake: Thanks for the present, Rabbit! Ooh, I love fish. (take away fish)

Narrator: When Danny Dog left, Rabbit gave him the three crunchy dog biscuits.

Danny Dog: Thanks for the present, Rabbit! Ooh, I love dog biscuits. (take dog biscuits)

Narrator: When Katie Cat left, Rabbit gave her the two balls of yarn.

Katie Cat: Thanks for the present, Rabbit! Ooh, I love yarn. (take away yarn)

Narrator: When Petunia Pig left, Rabbit gave her one bucket of soggy boggy mud.

Petunia Pig: Thanks for the present, Rabbit! Ooh, I love mud. (take away mud)

Narrator: When they were gone, Rabbit knew what the best present was. To have the rabbit
hole all to herself* once again.

Rabbit: I love my teeny, tiny empty house!

All together: The end.

*Rabbit can be a boy or a girl. So, “he” or “she”, “his or “hers”, “himself” or “herself”. Also,
Rabbit may be given the name of the birthday child (Ex. Amelia Rabbit or David Rabbit).
