Dr. Praveen Sharma P is a neurologist with 5 years of experience,


presently serving as a Consultant and a Parkinson’s disease &
Movement Disorders Specialist at Apollo Speciality Hospital, Jayanagar,
Bangalore. He completed his MBBS from M.S.Ramaiah Medical College
and Hospital and MD General Medicine from Bangalore Medical
College and Research Institute. He has a DM Neurology degree from
NIMHANS, Bangalore and completed his post-doctoral fellowship in
movement disorders at NIMHANS. At NIMHANS, he actively
participated in 20 Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgeries for patients
with Parkinson’s Disease and Dystonia. He is proficient in Botulinum
Toxin injections (BOTOX) for dystonias (writer’s cramps, facial spasms,
neck dystonia etc.) and programming of DBS pacemakers. He has
several papers to his credit in national and international journals. He has
actively participated in national and international neurology &
movement disorders conferences. Dr Praveen Sharma P is dedicated to
updating knowledge and enhancing awareness about Parkinson’s
disease and movement disorders through regular CMEs, aiming to
provide optimal care and improve patient outcomes. He believes that
patients with Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders can lead a
near normal life with medications and if suitable, surgical measures like
DBS.

● Conducted research on the role of Interleukin-33 in the


pathophysiology of Guillain-Barre syndrome for the DM
Neurology Thesis.

● Published retrospective studies on battery replacement


characteristics of patients with Parkinson's disease and factors
influencing battery drain, as well as clinical and genetic profiles of
patients with probable genetic Parkinson's disease.

● Actively participated in 20 DBS surgeries at NIMHANS and has


programmed the DBS pacemakers of at least 50 patients who had
previously undergone DBS surgery.
