My Professional Nursing Philosophy

I believe that healthcare is a calling, but more specifically nursing is a passion. Nursing is
for the individual that strives to help and care for others day in and day out. Nursing does not
stop once you leave the hospital or office, it is continuous. Family members and friends reach out
to you for advice and help, but to a nurse, this is not a burden, it is their role. The role of a nurse
is held in high regards to the public and nurses are seen as loyal and trustworthy individuals. It is
my responsibility and passion to uphold these values in my everyday career as a nurse.
My first priority is to care for patients and to improve their well-being, while also
actively listening to their goals and thoughts. I believe in a holistic approach to healthcare, and I
strive to implement that daily. It is my job to work with the patient to achieve optimal health
results. I strive to show my patients compassion and empathy daily and to ensure that their
voices are heard. I strive to educate myself daily in healthcare and open to new ideas that could
prove beneficial to the patient. I strive to care for my patients as if I am caring for my own
family.
