Summary
This is a one-shot prequel to one of my multi-chapter stories called Lost and Found, but feel
free to read it as a stand alone if you wish so you can pretend that everything went well ;)
But also, if you haven't read Lost and Found then feel free to if you want to. I will be
posting more one-shot prequels for this story, and for my other stories also, so keep an eye
out. But I will also add them to the ends of my stories when I am done with them for those
that don't like reading one-shots.
Or...
Severus finds out he is pregnant (with Harry but they don't know that yet) and tells his new
husband, Regulus. Just a cute fluffy one-shot to be honest. Enjoy! xx
Notes
It was the 21st of December when Regulus finally managed to get Severus to agree to go and see a
healer. Severus had been consistently ill for just over a week by that point. Being sick multiple
times a day. Feeling exhausted beyond measure. Needing to use the loo more than usual. Loss of
interest in certain foods, and cravings for others. Certain smells making him feel nauseous.
Regulus had been asking Severus to go and see a healer all week, more worried about his new,
young husband than he had been about anything or anyone in his life. But Severus would refuse.
Severus refused for a number of reasons. The first being that he wasn’t fully used to having
someone care about him or his wellbeing. He was still trying to absorb the fact that he was married
to the love of his life, as cheesy as it was to say that, and that Regulus loved him, cared for him.
The second being that he tended not to trust adults. He was an adult himself now, young at 19, but
still an adult. But older adults, he couldn’t trust them, especially people he didn’t know. And he
hated hospitals.
But the third reason was the main one. And that was that he thought he already knew what was
wrong with him. The thing the healers would test him for the second they see he is a bearer. A
married bearer.
He agreed now because he knew that Regulus would pick up on something eventually and demand
harder. And he knew he had to, at some point. To make sure everything was okay.
He needed to know.
Regulus, unfortunately, had to go into work so it would just be Severus at the appointment.
The appointment which he was meant to be getting ready for and yet all he was doing was staring
at his mostly naked self in the bathroom mirror. Mostly his pale, almost concave stomach which
his hand moved to lightly glide his fingers across.
He took a deep, shaky breath and sighed, trying not to let his whirling thoughts distract him too
much.
He needed to know.
“Congratulations, Master Snape. You’re pregnant,” the healer said with a cheerful smile on her
face as she looked down at him as he laid on the bed.
The second the words left her mouth though it was as if everything had stopped. Or drastically
slowed down.
Severus just stared at the grainy gold image that floated in the air above his exposed stomach
which showed the tiniest of bean shaped things he had ever seen. The little bean which the healer
had just told him was a baby.
His baby.
He had thought that him finding a family in Regulus was a miracle, the most amazing one.
But now… Now they were adding to it. They were having a baby of their own. They were creating
a whole new family filled with love, and acceptance, and warmth. And he didn’t even care that
tears were filling his eyes.
Their lives would change forever, but in truly the most amazing way.
He had been lonely for so bloody long, until he and Regulus had become proper friends after
Lily… Although even with Lily as his sister in all but blood he had often felt lonely. Until Regulus.
But now… now that they were adding to their little family, his heart was fuller, and more awed
than it had ever been before.
Regulus looked at him worriedly as soon as he entered the living room upon returning from work.
The worry practically doubled when Severus smiled at him.
“Is it bad? Are you going to be okay? Are you..?” Regulus said, walking over to Severus who was
sitting comfortably on their sofa.
And Severus kissed him. It was a gentle kiss, one filled with love and awe on both sides. One of
Severus’ hands found it’s way to Regulus’ cheek as their eyes closed, his long fingers nesting in the
dark hair. And the other took one of Regulus’ hands and led it slowly to his still flat stomach,
where their child lay.
Regulus broke the kiss softly and looked at Severus in shock and awe, grey eyes flicking between
their hands on Severus’ stomach and Severus’ dark eyes filled with actually happy tears, and love,
and awe, and hope.
“I’m pregnant,” Severus breathed, “Five weeks. Our baby is the size of a sesame seed,”
Regulus’ eyes shone with tears of pure joy as he continued to stare at Severus with love and awe
encompassing his entire being.
“Our baby,” Regulus breathed.
Regulus beamed and pulled Severus gently in for another passionate kiss, their eyes squeezing out
more tears of pure happiness and hope as they did so.
Regulus gently pushed Severus so he was lying on the sofa and then he pulled back, smiling
brighter than Severus had ever seen him do so, and that was saying something considering the
smiles he had gotten from the man on their bonding day, and every day after that.
Regulus tugged Severus’ t-shirt up and he kissed the lower part of Severus’ flat stomach reverently.
Then his lips were back on Severus’.
“I love you, so bloody much, Severus. And I love our baby, too. Thank you for the most amazing
gift in the world. No, the universe. You both are my universe. When are you due?” Regulus said,
still beaming.
“And everything’s okay with you both?” Regulus said, concern filling his eyes.
The rest of the night was spent lying on their sofa with their hands on Severus’ belly, both trying to
digest the news, whilst revelling in the feelings of home.
Severus was standing in front of the mirror again in the very early hours of the morning. He had
needed to go to the loo, again, but once he had finished his business he couldn’t bring himself to go
back to bed.
His hand had found its way to his stomach and he was just staring at the skin which would soon be
stretched over his baby.
He was terrified. Terrified that he would be just like his own parents.
But he swore right then and there that he would do whatever he could to not become them. He
would not let his past define him. He wouldn’t let them ruin his happiness now that he had found
it.
Any of them.
He had a family now. A real family.
And he was so happy, he didn’t think anyone would be able to ruin it. And he hoped no one tried.
But he promised that he would do anything he could to protect his family.
A home.
He had found what he had been looking for, waiting for, yearning for.
“I love you, so much, baby,” he whispered, looking down at his flat belly, “You are what I’ve been
waiting for my whole life. And I promise that I will be the best mum I can be. I will love you, and
protect you, and look after you with everything I can. I promise. I will never give up on you, little
one,”
“Sev, are you okay in there?” Regulus said from the other side of the closed door, and Severus
smiled at the concern he could hear in the gentle voice.
“Yes,” Severus said, opening the door and smiling at his husband, who smiled back at him.
“Are you sure? You were in there for a while. Are you feeling okay? Is the baby feeling okay? Do
you need a healer?” Regulus asked, almost desperately.
“Reg, I’m fine, our baby is fine. I was just… having a moment,” he admitted shyly.
“Okay,” Regulus breathed, “But if that changes at any time, just let me know and I will get you to
a healer as soon as possible, I promise. Now, let’s get you and Little Snake back to bed so you can
both get some rest,”
“Little Snake?” Severus smirked, although there was a smile in there, too.
“Of course. We are both Slytherins so our Little One is bound to at least have some of the qualities
of a snake. Therefore, Little Snake,” Regulus nodded, a goofy grin on his face as he wrapped an
arm around Severus’ waist, pulling him close as he led Severus to their bed and helped him get
comfortable.
“You know I’m only five weeks gone, right? You don’t need to help me into bed,” Severus said,
trying to sound annoyed but really he was just relishing in the feeling of being looked after, loved,
cherished, and everything else.
All the good things that Severus used to dream of having but now he no longer had to dream.
“I know, but I’m getting in some practise for when you’re farther along and need some help. Also,
I want to dote on you as much as possible. You are giving me the most wonderful gift and it is
nearly Christmas, I need to try and make up for it, at least a little,” Regulus said as he crawled in
next to Severus and held him close.
“Yes, well, although that is bloody amazing, it is nothing compared to you carrying our child
within you for nine months, and then giving birth to him or her, and everything else. You and our
baby are my miracles and I am going to cherish you both as much as I want to, no matter what,”
“You are my miracles, too,” Severus breathed, smiling at Regulus, heart fluttering.
