Suggested use…. Hello!
To assign these activities to your students, I suggest using Google Classroom. You can push out a copy for every student. Just make sure you have the
slides the way you want them first! Once you make a copy for every student, you won’t be able to edit the directions or number of tasks anymore.

Here are a few options:

q Assign all of the slides, and ask students to complete one slide each day. They can choose a vocabulary word, or you can! If you do a “word
a day” approach, they can use these activities as extended practice.
q Before pushing the digital assignment out to students, cut the slides presentation down to the activities you want them to do right away.
q Use the choice board to allow students to select a task.
q If asking students to complete one prompt, consider how many words you want them to practice with that prompt. You may need to
duplicate slides. For example, if you want them to make a soundtrack for 3 words, you’ll need to copy and paste that slide three times
before sharing the assignment with them.

THIS ASSIGNMENT DOES NOT NEED TO BE GRADED. IT IS INTENDED FOR PRACTICE. However, if you’d like to grade it and are seeking guidance, I
suggest…For quick grading, use the rubric feature in Google Classroom (based off of prompt directions) and create a comment bank of standard
feedback you can provide quickly (like I love how you used context clues in your explanation. It really helps me to see that you understand this word. Or
You’re doing great with making connections using this word. Let’s work on developing your understanding for how to use this word in a sentence
correctly. Hint: Let’s pay close attention to the part of speech!), adding small personalization here and there. You can also use the self-assessment slide
included after each activity.

The goal of these activities is to help students make brain-based associations with their words, thereby deepening their understanding through critical
thinking and encouraging retention over memorization. Plus, when students enjoy interacting with their words, they begin to develop a love for

language. Learning vocabulary is a way to readers’ and writers’ hearts.
