REFLECTIION ON MY STUDYING

Reflecting on my experience studying for one semester at the university, I

can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of happiness and gratitude. Being in
Portugal, having the opportunity to enter the university, and embarking on a
journey to improve myself has been truly rewarding.
This semester, I focused on learning how to teach in primary school,
delving into various methodologies and gaining practical experience in
Portuguese schools. The experience has been invaluable, as it provided me with
a deeper understanding of the teaching profession and allowed me to apply my
theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting. Witnessing the growth and
development of young minds has been both inspiring and fulfilling. I have also
engaged in a wide range of theoretical learning during this semester. The
academic curriculum provided me with a solid foundation in teaching
methodologies and educational theories. I delved into various subjects, such as
child psychology, curriculum development, and pedagogical approaches, which
have enhanced my understanding of the intricacies of teaching in a primary
school setting.
Applying the theoretical knowledge gained from my studies, I actively
participated in lessons at the school where I practiced different teaching
methods. The practical component of my studies provided invaluable hands-on
experience and a deeper understanding of the challenges and rewards of
teaching in a real classroom setting.
One particularly effective method I discovered and explored during this
semester was the use of songs to facilitate vocabulary learning in primary
school. Recognizing the power of music as a learning tool, I integrated songs
into my lessons to make language learning more enjoyable and interactive for
the students. Not only did this method enhance their vocabulary retention, but it
also fostered a fun and inclusive learning environment, where students could
actively participate and express themselves through music.
Moreover, one of the most enriching aspects of this journey has been the
people I've encountered along the way. I have had the pleasure of meeting
numerous interesting individuals, both fellow students and teachers. Each
interaction has broadened my perspective and given me insights into different
teaching styles, cultural backgrounds, and approaches to education.
I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to my teachers: Ana Isabel Andrade,
Ana Raquel Simões. They have been instrumental in my progress, always ready
to offer guidance, correct my mistakes, and provide invaluable advice. Their
expertise and dedication have not only helped me develop my teaching skills
but have also inspired me to strive for excellence in all aspects of my life. I am
truly grateful for their unwavering support and mentorship.
This semester has been a period of self-discovery and personal growth. I
have had the opportunity to challenge myself, step out of my comfort zone, and
explore new avenues of knowledge.
In conclusion, I am incredibly grateful for the chance to study at the
university, to learn, to work on myself, and to gain new experiences. This
semester has been a stepping stone towards becoming a better educator and a
more well-rounded individual. I am excited to embrace future challenges,
continue developing myself, and contribute positively to the field of education.
