SUPPORT
The Legal Affairs Group (LAG) has been at the forefront in
providing the CDC with comprehensive, responsive and vital legal
support to ensure that the corporation is provided with adequate and
appropriate legal advice, contract review and litigation services in
effective collaboration with the Office of the Government Corporate
Counsel (OGCC).
In the past year, the LAG efficiently processed 239 contract reviews
and legal opinions, attended 121 hearings of different cases before
the courts and quasi-judicial bodies, and managed to have 12 cases
decided or resolved.
Strengthened and effective legal assistance in the contract
enforcement and implementation led to a substantial increase in the
collection of delinquent/non-performing accounts and generation of
new investment opportunities from terminated lease contracts.
Finally, LAG’s involvement in various committee and business
meetings provided all the legal tools necessary to serve the best
interest of the CDC and to ensure the adequate protection of the
Corporation’s interest in all actions and dealings made by its officers
and staff.
Recognizing the efforts of the LAG, the OGCC has again issued
a letter of commendation for having maintained, if not exceeded, the
high quality of legal service required of the group for the year 2019.
